Boku is looking for a Fraud Data Analyst to join our European Team. Location can be based out of London, Munich, Dublin or Prague.


Responsibilities

  • Learn our tools and be an individual contributor. No one gets to do just the fun stuff and not get their hands dirty. You will:
    • Prepare datasets for use in fraud analysis
    • Learn analysis tools and techniques and use them to answer important business questions
    • Monitor performance of our fraud rule system and configure rules to optimise between healthy and fraudulent sales
    • Come up with your own business questions and answer them
  • Help protect the business by monitoring and alerting for potential fraud or suspicious activity. You will:
    • Learn to distinguish between normal and suspicious activity
    • Spot patterns and trends in fraud
    • Be a first responder to our alerting processes
    • Be ready to escalate any emerging fraud issues or things that don’t look right
  • Work with stakeholders to get visibility into projects that may have an effect on fraud risk. Our business is constantly changing. Our competitors are doing things and we need to stay ahead of the game. You will:
    • Work with the team so that you understand what we can deliver
    • Understand the different fraud challenges Boku and our partners face. Act as a source of information for other parts of the business.
    • Work with account managers to help meet our merchant and carrier partners’ needs for fraud prevention.
    • Explain technical or analytical working to non-technical audiences
    • Contribute ideas, cultivate ideas you hear, take guidance to drive good ideas forward: be that person that makes new things happen
    • Travel as necessary to Munich, London, San Francisco, and possibly other locations, dependent on pandemic situation. Note: Travel is currently on hold.

Requirements

  • At least 1-2 years relevant work experience
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) ideally in a numerical or analytical field
  • Passionate about stopping fraud – we have the chance to make a difference and help combat illegal activity
  • Data driven – data for making the business run smoother, data for creating new products, data for everything
  • Very able communicator – must enjoy working with community of internal stakeholders and external business partners
  • Individual contributor – willing to dig in and contribute to projects. We are one big happy team and everyone needs to help out when and where possible
  • Understand the business and what our risks are, especially with regard to fraud. This is much easier if you have experience with how companies work and how they make money and why they need to make money. Ideally you have payments/fintech business experience.
  • Previous experience with data analysis, ideally using SQL. Python, R -beneficial.
  • Growth-mindset. You are willing to learn new skills.
