Sr Data Scientist


The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Data Scientist, are to:

  • Mine, explore, and manipulate large and diverse grower datasets to develop and validate insights and key performance metrics for the carbon business in sustainable agriculture;
  • Independently perform statistical and data analysis;
  • Execute science research projects and experimental protocols, including in-field experiments and prototyping decision support tools;
  • Work closely and cross-functionally with a team of world-class scientists and engineers from DFS and Commercial to deliver impactful insights with business value;
  • Perform collaborative, high quality, reproducible research by using collaborative scientific software development and code reviews;
  • Lead projects from idea conception and planning to execution and results delivery, thriving in multi-disciplinary environments;
  • Ensure quality control processes are established for verification and validation of data;
  • Share results with the commercial team providing recommendations and action.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with at least five years of industry experience in a highly quantitative discipline OR Ph.D. with at least two years of industry experience;
  • Strong proficiency with scientific computing and code development in Python or R;
  • Experience using tools for big datasets, such as SQL or Spark;
  • Experience using version control systems, such as Git;
  • Demonstrated ability to complete research projects and deliver results;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong drive to learn new topics and skills.
