The MAPV (Medical Affairs & Pharmacovigilance) & RWE (Real World Evidence) product team in Product Platform Development of the Digital Transformation and IT Pharma division is responsible for providing new IT solutions worldwide and ensuring the proper operation of IT applications for R&D in the context of Medical Affairs, Pharmacovigilance and Real World Evidence.

We work with our colleagues in the Pharma Division to provide innovative and efficient solutions that fit the system landscape and create added value for the R&D and MA&PV functions. With increasingly complex processes, changing business models, new approaches and technologies such as machine learning and semantic data integration within our solution design, it is becoming more important day by day to transition to a more agile and product-oriented delivery model.

You will be responsible for:

• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
• Build an infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using various state of the art and big data technologies
• Build semantic data layers and knowledge graphs using fit-for-purpose methodology and technologies e.g. linked data concept, RDF, triple stores, graph databases to make core data structures that have already been discovered findable, accessible and reusable in an efficient way to for data knowledge workers
• Work and lead in collaborative, value-driven product teams (DevOps) to build innovative customer experiences for data scientist, data analysts and general users in Pharma MA&PV globally
• Design, develop and deploy highly complex digital solutions and choose technologies that solve clients’ problems while staying within constraints
• Use continuous delivery practices to deliver high-quality data pipelines
• Remain up to date with the latest IT trends & tech stack, frameworks and technologies
• You contribute to the optimization of our current tech stack of Python & AWS – serverless services
• You leverage cloud infrastructure to provide your product as a reliable, performant and well managed service
• You participate in code reviews, pair and mob programming sessions and apply these to not only make your product better but also your team more resilient

We would expect from you:

• Experience with at least one NoSQL database, Cloud-native solutions, such as Athena, ElasticSearch, Glue, Step functions, Stream processing (e.g. Kafka, Spark Streaming)
• Knowledge of (cloud) technology such as AWS, Terraform, Lambda functions, network & security
• Excellent university degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
• Demonstrated experience participating in the build and support of Data Platforms and design principles.
• Demonstrated experience leading data modeling and architecture design efforts, including designing both logical and physical models for datasets.
• Proven experience in integrating data sources into a data platform, building data pipelines and modeling large or big datasets in distributed databases such as Snowflake, Presto/Trino, Apache Spark/PySpark
• Proficiency in working with relational databases such as Postgres, Oracle, etc.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Elastic Search
• You are familiar with data visualization tools and methodologies, agile, CI/CD, github actions and/or repo setup
• Resilient in ambiguous situations and can approach challenges from multiple perspectives
• Solid leadership skills and experience required
• Solid economical experience and entrepreneurial behavior
