Summary & Role Information

We are looking for a (Senior) Data Scientist (f/m/d), who is an expert in natural language processing (NLP) and semantic technologies, like knowledge graphs, to join the SAP Artificial intelligence (AI) unit in the SAP Technology & Innovation board area.

As a (Senior) Data Scientist (f/m/d), you will:
  • Push the frontiers of what is possible in AI, NLP and knowledge graphs with real data and real business use cases
  • Explore, understand, and implement the most recent machine learning algorithms, natural language processing approaches and semantic technologies
  • Help to shape a coherent strategy for natural language processing and knowledge graphs for SAP’s AI portfolio with product experts, data scientists, domain experts and engineers
  • Work through business problems from beginning to end: translating research insight into adequate concepts for SAP’s customers
  • Understand business processes which create and consume data to be able to select the best approaches, evaluate their performance, and assess business relevance
  • Lead small project teams – collecting requirements from a product team or co-innovation customer and coordinating the machine learning development
  • Communicate the relevance of implemented systems and achieved results in a visual and consistent way

Experience & Role Requirements

We are looking for candidates with 5+ years of related professional experience, including at least 4 years of experience in a role related to AI and machine learning.
  • Master or Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics, physics, or related field
  • In-depth AI and data science knowledge, with a focus on natural language processing and knowledge graphs, and proven track record to translate AI into enterprise software solutions
  • Deep understanding of semantic technologies like knowledge graphs, graph databases, semantic web, data linkage, etc.
  • Proven experience in planning, executing and coordinating data science projects as well as proven track record of high-quality AI research
  • Ability to work in a global team with distributed stakeholders and team members and ability to communicate on senior executive level
  • Very good English language skills mandatory - Good German language skills are highly beneficial
  • Experience with SAP product development and products portfolio beneficial
