The corporate Decision Science unit at Bayer AG is the key partner of central functions for data science & analytics. We work globally and across all corporate functions in Bayer including, but not limited to Procurement, Finance, HR or Cyber Security. We tackle and solve upmost demanding business challenges and build analytical products with the mission to improve the overall efficiency and decision making in the company.

You work in an agile, fully dev-ops oriented group, covering the entire lifecycle of products together with our peer development departments within the Digital Transformation unit. Use cases can vary from single event studies over the development of prototypes up to enterprise ready analytical products. Accordingly, the team employs a wide spread toolbox ranging from classical statistics, over time series analytics to cutting edge machine and deep learning techniques.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work cross domain and sound functional experience incl. project management and project coordination to run fast, small scale analytical developments as well as scaling and industrializing products globally
• Translate non-technical requirements into experimental design and data acquisition requirements to gather the right data
• Responsible for modelling complex problems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities by choosing and implementing statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization analytics to deliver insight, recommendations and solutions
• Responsible for the interpretation/insight generation of analytical model results
• Collaborate with decision science leads, platform architects and product engineering leads to build a technical strategy that drives the desired business outcome and ensures scalability of products
• Participate in the evaluation of new technologies and methodologies to support decision making processes
• Mentor junior data scientists

WHO YOU ARE

• Master degree or PhD in mathematics, statistics, computer science, finance or comparable studies
• Several years of experience in a data science or comparable position
• Deep and broad understanding across the following areas: Advanced statistical data analysis, time series forecasting, machine learning/deep learning, MCMC, neural networks, baysian methods, data modelling and related topics
• Experienced in industrializing and scaling enterprise end to end solutions
• Expert programming skills in Python, R, Julia
• Strong visualization skills of analytical results (Tableau, Shiny or comparable)
• Experienced with Data Warehouses and Data Bases (SQL, SAP BW/HANA) and Big-Data (Hadoop)/Cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure)
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
