Job Summary: The Data & Analytics Technical Manager position has primary responsibility for ensuring projects are delivered according to our QDC’s. The Technical Manager will partner closely with the Data Architects and Data Strategists to evaluate and implement analytics projects for our strategic business units. The Technical Manager will lead lean initiatives to accelerate the time to value and eliminate waste from the development processes. The ideal candidate must have good organization skills, interpersonal skills, and solid technology acumen to be successful in this role. Responsibilities:- Partner with Data Strategist and Data Architects to deliver analytics projects
- Design and Architect a DevSecOps ecosystem for next gen Data & Analytics (D&A) global tranformation platform, a enterprise level implementation
- Develop Best Practices working closely with D&A Tranformers and Enterprise Architect to implement DevSecOps in other Global Enterprise wide programs like WebMethods IO
- Enrich, define, and enforce governance standards to mitigate against entropy via continual operational excellence
- Works closely with implementation partner and drive the DevSecOps implementation activity for Trane Technologies.
- Perform R&D for the new tool set that’s needed for DevSecOps and works closely with New Tools provider to bench mark Trane Technologies need.
- Drive data engineer empowerment in strategic business unit development groups
- Implement lean initiatives to accelerate time to value and eliminate waste from development processes
- Translate technical design documents provided by architects into technical stories for developers
- Collaborate with operations to continuously improve deployment standards for production code
- Enforce and continuously improve high-quality coding standards and practices via reviews
- Provide data analytics technical leadership when collaborating with other IT teams on project work
- Responsible for process standard work identification and creation to support ongoing work in the data & analytics area
- Responsible for ensuring IT policies are followed and adhered to during the development process
- Responsible for the performance management of personnel on the data & analytics team including internal and external team members
Qualifications:- Experience in systems development and planning methodologies for executing application development, specifically around Data Analytics applications
- Experience with Big Data processing frameworks and tools (Cloudera, Sqoop, Hive, Impala, Spark)
- Experience with cloud technologies and services, specifically around Amazon Web Services (AWS) data processing
- Experience software development on a team using Agile methodology
- Experience in implementing automated testing for large scale data platforms
- Experience with DevSecOps tools and techniques (e.g continuous integration, Jenkins, Puppet, etc)
- Proven history working with developers, architects, and cross-functional business stakeholders in both technical and functional disciplines
- Broad understanding of data analytics technology methodologies and tools, including data warehousing, DevSecOps/DataOps, data ingestion, ELT/ETL, and data visualization tools
- In-depth knowledge of SQL (plSQL, Hive, Impala, Oracle) and databases
- Advanced knowledge of OBIEE, Cloudera, Informatica
- Experience supporting multiple projects and work-streams simultaneously and balancing priorities for successful outcomes
- Experience navigating complex organizations, creative problem solving, and rapid experimentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, good organization, ability to communicate and grasp complex topics
Key Competencies
- BE degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s degree a plus)
- 10+ years of demonstrated experience in Data Analytics Technology platforms and development management
- 5+ years relevant technical and project management experience
- 5+ years of experience working with data & analytics concepts such as SQL, ETL, ELT, reporting and report building, data visualization, data lineage, data importing & exporting, and data warehousing
- 5+ years of experience working with general IT concepts such as integrations, encryption, authentication & authorization, batch processing, real-time processing, CI/CD, automation
- 5+ years of management experience with internal direct reports and external contractors, with a proven track record of skill-building, hiring, and talent acquisition
