Our Markets business is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It combines sophisticated 24- hour global coverage with a detailed knowledge of local markets. We specialise in foreign exchange, credits and rates, structured derivatives, equities and debt, equity and equity-linked capital markets.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Data Scientist.

Principal Responsibilities

Overview of department:

The Global Markets Digital and Data function within Markets and Securities Services consists of two broad teams: Platform and Quantitative Analytics. The Platform team is responsible for driving digital strategy, business architecture and delivery through Product Owners. The Quantitative Analytics team is responsible for driving the bank’s risk and valuation strategy and delivering our cross-asset quant libraries.

Responsible for:

The Global Markets AI Team operates across asset classes, trading and sales globally. Creating machine learning capabilities including natural language processing, content recommendation, forecasting and reinforcement learning, the team deliver solutions for pricing, risk, algorithmic trading and digital sales.

Key duties of the role holder will include:

  • Working as part of a team, the candidate will, using advanced machine learning and analytical skills, further the intelligence capabilities of Markets and Securities Services
  • Working at the leading edge of analytics, the role requires the job holder to apply the best possible combination of applied mathematics, statistics, advanced computing (machine learning, artificial intelligence), visualisation, and data engineering to the areas of: natural language processing, clustering, anomaly detection and prediction. Those of the above skills which the candidate does not currently bring to the role, they will be expected to develop
  • The candidate will bring the ability to work with large, complex data sets. The ability to merge large data sets, to generate results and learnings from those data sets and to be able to present those learning to both technical and non-technical audiences and users
  • The candidate must demonstrate a strong desire to develop and use technical skills and will be writing reusable and extensible software for a number of applications. The candidate must also be comfortable pushing AI-embedded software to production.
  • The candidate will be expected to be at the leading edge of this new technical skill set
  • Maintaining discipline in coding practice while ensuring timely delivery of solutions
  • Following the full process flow of data and working closely with downstream systems in testing

Requirements

  • A combination of applied mathematics, statistics, artificial intelligence (particularly machine learning), natural language processing, visualisation, and data engineering
  • Experience with state-of-the-art natural language modelling
  • Strong development experience with Python
  • Experience of developing web APIs and database development (KDB and PostgreSQL is strongly desirable) with python
  • Demonstrable, inquisitive nature
  • Can communicate / present fluently to audiences at differing ability levels on fields outside of their own specific technical skills
  • Experience working with cloud environments, particularly Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience working in the front office with exposure to quantitative research
