Overview
We are currently seeking a Data Engineer to provide vision & strategy for defining enterprise solutions for our leading defense readiness data analytics platform.
Successful candidates MUST be eligible to obtain a DoD-issued security clearance at the secret-level.
The ideal candidate will be creative problem solver that is open-minded to learning new technologies and unafraid to evangelize the technical strategy for the development team.
As the Data Engineer, you will:
Develop procedures to solve complex database design problems, including performance, scalability, security and integration issues.
Data warehouse and data mart design, implementation and maintenance
Manage the data lifecycle and ensure data quality
Use ETL processes to transform data according to complex business rules using SSIS & T-SQL or Scala & Spark
Maintain consistency in terms of planning, estimating, executing, and communicating work and progress within the team.
Take lead on major development tasks, as well as mentoring and coaching of development peers
You have:
At least six years of professional experience designing and building software applications in a modern object-oriented programming language and/or frameworks (frameworks such as Spark/Hadoop/Scala desired but not required)
Professional experience administering, designing and developing database systems (preferably data warehousing solutions)
Experienced with schema design (relationships, discovery, and normalization), query optimization, T-SQL, Stored procedures, triggers, and indexing
Experienced with shell scripting such as PowerShell, bash, or zsh
Knowledge of version control software, especially Git and Azure Repos
Cognos BI administration and report building a plus, but not required
Strong written and oral communication skills, with ability to express ideas and design benefits/drawbacks to both technical and non-technical audience
Eligible to obtain a DoD-issued security clearance at the secret-level upon hire (current possession of secret clearance a plus).
