Position Details:
As Lead Data Engineer, you will work with senior leaders within Customer Strategy & Marketing and across Grainger to bring data-driven transformation to life. By supporting the end-to-end realization of our goals you will help guide Grainger's growth strategies, analytical approaches, technical implementations, and standardized processes. By making relevant customer information available, we help Grainger market, sell, and deliver the best products and solutions that meet the needs of our customers. You will report to the Director, Customer Information Design & Segment Research.
You Will:
- Build and deploy scalable and reliable data pipelines, tool kits, and packages to help partners to centralize high quality, large, complex data sets from multiple business application, databases, and offline sources to cloud platforms for quicker strategy formulation, hypothesis testing, and work selection
- Collaborate with technology and partners (analytics, marketing, software engineering, data engineering and others) to identify high impact opportunities to transform the way Grainger gets things done with differentiated data about customers
- Support iterative improvements to CI concepts and data structures so we can serve partners the best information we have today, persist past insights, and accommodate future enhancements
- Solve complex unstructured problems based on high-level guidance from Grainger leaders to inform data and process designs
- Keep informed of Data Engineering best practices and latest technologies to solve problems with the best solution
- Conceptualize process systems and their relationships to enable end-to-end thinking and to ensure efficient work execution at scale
- Work with partners to understand the problem space, identify opportunities, and translate said problems into technical solutions using modern data engineering frameworks and best practices
- Provide leadership implementing general IT concepts, strategies, methodologies, modern application and data engineering architectures and approaches.
You Have:
- 5+ years post-undergraduate experience
- Technical and analytical proficiency using data tools (e.g. SQL, R/Python, Snowflake, Airflow, Kubernetes, or CircleCI)
- Experience proposing blueprint solutions, defining and enabling architectures for enterprise data platforms using modern data engineering solutions
