Marketing Data Scientist II - Audience Insights

Job description

About The Role

We are looking for a Marketing Data Scientist to support growing requests for audience research. This team partners with internal teams like Research & Insights and the Brand Marketing Measurement teams to answer questions about audience segmentation, targeting, lifecycle, and other research around existing and potential Uber users.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct foundational analyses and audience profiling to support Marketing in brand planning, strategy, prioritization, and creative campaign development
  • Work with the Research & Insights team (qualitative and survey researchers) to build a coordinated understanding of Uber's audience - both current users and non-users
  • Tie survey data such as the Brand Health Tracker and CSAT/DSAT surveys with Uber usage data to develop consumer insights
  • Develop a research roadmap with input from Global Marketing, Product Marketing, S&P, and other internal functions
  • Work closely with research counterparts on UXR, Product Data Science, Policy Research, and Research & Insights to synthesize evidence-based narratives about Uber's users and growth potential
  • Facilitate the development of self-serve tools and dashboards to enable Marketing and other internal customers to do their own exploratory audience research and segmentation

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficiency in SQL, Python or R, and data visualization
  • Experience handling large, sophisticated datasets and attention to detail
  • Ability to translate data science findings into business and marketing strategy, including with executive leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to understand customer needs, set expectations around feasibility, translate business challenges into research questions, and present findings to non-technical audiences
  • Intellectual curiosity and a proven ability to provide thought leadership to executive customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of proven experience, or an advanced degree in statistics, economics, STEM, or other quantitative fields
  • Research experience with consumer and digital products
  • Survey science expertise and experience working with survey weighting methodologies and the associated watch-outs
  • Experience with 3rd party datasets such as demographic censuses, geospatial data, and other market research tools
