JUNIOR DATA SCIENTIST

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As our business gets more complex, we have an ever-growing need to respond with more sophisticated analysis. In a world of information overload, data sets can become large and unorganized. This individual helps to uncover data, normalize data sets to be used in-depth analysis, and make recommendations for how to optimize our analysis capability. Being intellectually curious is half the battle.



  • Support various business functions and ensure the proper analytics and data are available for internal users.
  • Provide research and analytical support to internal customers including, but not limited to, financial analysis, data analysis, and trend identification.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance basic statistical models.
  • Extract and/or consolidate datasets from the data warehouse for use in analytical and modeling work, or as requested to support other teams.
  • Use the MasterCard Test & Learn tool to perform analysis pre-post net of control.
  • Perform ad hoc requests for reports to identify trends, confirm theories, and uncover hidden opportunities for data refinement.
  • Learn the underlying data attributes, metrics and calculations and strive to become an expert in our data and metrics.
  • Maintain competency in the various data repository systems used to support the organization and business.


WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We seek to build teams of individuals who maintain trusted relationships, demonstrate accountability, influence without authority, have a service mindset, agility and curiosity. Our ideal candidate will possess a mix of the following skills and competencies:


  • 1 year of professional experience in data science/analytics is preferred, but recent graduates are also welcome to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, or related discipline. Relevant experience, applicable training and/or certifications may be substituted for a college degree.
  • Experience with SQL, R or Python is beneficial.
  • Experience with Tableau is beneficial.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Clear and effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to translate analytical insights into clear recommendations and effectively communicate them to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality of data and handle data with professional maturity.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with internal and external parties.
  • Ability to analyze and report data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.

Our school support center, or “Corporate Office”, is based in Atlanta, GA and we’re dedicated to providing service excellence by supporting over 400 schools across 29 states to provide children with the best and most trusted early education and care. Our support center, located within minutes of the Battery and Suntrust Park, is home to over 130 team members that work in Marketing, Operations, IT, Real Estate, Franchise Development, Finance, Accounting, and Human Resources.
