Big Data Engineer

Our client a leading, international internet services provider is looking to hire a Big Data Engineer with 2-3 years of working experience as a data engineer or similar role, to join their expanding team in Dublin.

This role will initially be on a 12-month contract with a view to extension.

What does the role involve?

• Responsible for acquiring and assembling datasets that align with modelling requirements.
• Build, test, and maintain database pipelines and architectures from a variety of data sources.
• Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modelling.
• Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
• Work with management, product, and research teams to assist with data-related issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
• Working closely with multiple teams to optimize the performance of the advertising recommender system.

You must have as a minimum:

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, and Bioinformatics).
• 2 or 3 years of working experience as a data engineer or similar role.
• Strong programming skills in Python or Java.
• Proficient in SQL, HiveSQL, understanding the basic principles and tuning strategies of Hive/MySQL.
• Experience in ETL (Extract / Transform / Load) processes.

Beneficial – not a must

• Work experience in Online Advertising, Search Engine, or Recommender Systems
