The Role


We’re looking for an experienced Data Scientist with a strong background in statistics and SQL, Python and/or R skills to join our team! Do you want a role where you can really make a difference? Then this role could be perfect for you!


In this role you will apply your deep expertise in analytics and data science techniques to enable better customer understanding and inform business decisioning for us here at IAG. You will also get the chance to mentor junior analysts in the team on data science & analytics techniques.

Key Responsibilities


  • Contribute to a shared analytics architecture and plan for machine decisioning, claims optimisation and manage components of delivery to that plan.
  • Elicit and understand stakeholder needs before scoping and developing analytical methodologies to generate training data and build advanced analytical models and solutions with a view to activating them within IAG’s business processes.
  • Adopt a product management approach to deliver valuable improvements often, continuously improve and meet stakeholder needs.
  • Build models and conduct analyses to understand business processes, the impact of changes to customer experience and aiding critical business decisions.
  • Build tools and processes supporting the activation of claims and operational analytics within IAG.
  • Provide guidance, peer review approaches and completed work for the analysts, senior analysts and data scientists in the team; as well as contribute to communities of practice.

Skills & Experience


  • 5 –7 years’ experience in data science/ customer analytics
  • Demonstrated ability to use analytical tools and techniques to solve complex business problems and evaluate performance
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesise data and information into actionable business decisioning
  • Advanced understanding of statistical modelling and machine learning techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical tools such as R and Python
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to build collaborative working relationships
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Economics, Statistics / Analytics, Finance or related field
