Data Analyst / Fraud/ Subject Matter Expert

The Position
F5 is seeking a driven, analytical, articulate, and highly professional data analyst to help deliver anti-fraud solutions and communicating the value of our products to external audiences. The Data Analyst / Fraud SME will work specifically on data analysis and build summaries to drive improved performance of our products and understanding for our customers.
We are looking for an analyst who has a nose for identifying fraud and anomalous patterns in huge and often messy datasets who is also adept at using these insights to craft compelling narratives for external audiences. The ideal candidate also has a penchant for working closely with enterprise customers, gaining a deep sense of customer empathy, and a desire to deliver outstanding value to them in content.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the data science team to instrument products, build models, interpret, and visualize data sets.
- Using your strong analytical skills, you will find insights in data to develop both internal and external communication. You will be responsible for translating data insights into narratives that speak to your audiences’ experiences and pain points. Audiences include customers, technologists in the security and fraud space, internal stakeholders and beyond.
- Develop your own strong voice to promote thought leadership on behalf of F5.
- Work closely with customers to quickly understand their fraud challenges and identify how F5 might be able to help them successfully fight fraud.
- Identify useful data from customers’ web and mobile applications and engineer relevant features for fraud models.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams (sales, customer success, product, engineering, etc.) and with customers on the performance of machine learning models, as well as other fraud and data science issues.
Provide feedback to internal F5 teams on data science, product, engineering issues, and suggest process improvements.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate has:
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to manipulate, model, interpret, and visualize large quantities of structured data.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience building and deploying machine learning models on large-scale data. Experience working with highly unbalanced data (e.g., commonly found in fraud use cases) a strong plus.
- A passion for delighting customers and an aptitude for engaging with customers on fraud, security, and machine learning issues on a regular basis.
- Prior experience working with customers on complex fraud or security issues.
- Familiarity with common web and mobile technologies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interpret complex data insights into digestible information for internal stakeholders and customers.
- Self-motivation, drive and persistence when tackling the most difficult problems.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of an agile team.
- A demonstrated enthusiasm and capacity to learn new technologies quickly.
- A scrappy yet meticulous approach and a love for problem solving!
