Marketing Data Scientist

Job description

We’re on course for major growth at VanMoof. To take us even further and get us there faster, we're looking for a Marketing Data Scientist to dive in and sharpen our Growth Marketing team. You’ll have a clear focus on data and work together with the Marketing Science Lead to support our Marketing and CRM teams so we run effective and efficient brand and conversion campaigns. We’re not like other bike companies – so you’ll need to innovate at every turn.

You’ll collaborate closely with our Central Data team to support all data-centric needs within the Marketing team. Your primary objective is to improve our marketing analytics game, but you should also have interest in data science and machine learning techniques. We'll expect you to work closely with data experts across the organization to maximize rider satisfaction and revenue. It’s your responsibility to guarantee proper data governance and quality across the Marketing team. You’ll be in charge of performing thorough testing and validation to make sure our data is accurate.

Our ideal candidate has strong analytical and computational skills and is fluent in SQL and Python/R. You should also have working experience with relational and non-relational database management systems, as well as Google BigQuery or other Cloud-based data warehouses. To support our growth ambitions, you’ll need to develop an understanding of marketing and customer data.

What you'll do:

  • You'll track key marketing initiatives, evaluate their success, and identify if and how they contribute to our sales targets.

  • You'll connect with an experienced team of Marketing Managers, who’ll guide you with the right questions and answers.

  • You'll support the Marketing Science Lead with regular and ad-hoc requests, including:

    • Campaign analysis

    • Forecasting and making predictions

    • Maintaining and building dashboards

    • Experimentation agenda (A/B tests, incrementally studies, causal impact analysis, etc)

    • Testing and implementing new modeling techniques (on structured and unstructured data)

    • Helping to build new API connections and maintain close contact with Central Data Team

  • You'll support Marketing and CRM managers by:

    • Providing data to inform decision making

    • Providing regular updates and monitoring of new campaigns/promotions/etc

    • Segmenting existing and prospective customers

    • Automating audiences and lookalikes on our marketing channels

    • Helping to build channel-specific dashboards that answer main questions

What you'll bring:

  • You have at least an Internship in a relevant area (more experience also welcomed)

  • You're independent, self-directed, and proactive, but also a team player.

  • You're motivated and enthusiastic by our mission to get the next billion on bikes.

  • You are fluent in SQL and Python/R.

  • You show an eagerness to grow in your role and learn on the job.

  • You have excellent English language skills.

Extremely nice to have:

  • Knowledge of BI tools (Looker, DataStudio or similar)

  • Data visualization affinity

  • Ease with communicating results to bigger audiences

  • Experience with SQL, GCP, Version Control (Github)

  • Experience with APIs and ETL processes
