Lead Data Engineer

Position:

We are looking for a Lead Data Engineering to build, optimize and maintain scalable ETL pipelines as well as our conceptual and logical database models. You will also lead to deliver scalable data products and platforms to drive utilization of data from disparate sources using best practices. Ultimately, you will develop database solutions to ensure company information is stored and reported on effectively and securely.

For this role:

• You should know how to analyze system requirements and implement migration methods for existing data.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and BigQuery is also required.
• Ideally, you are familiar with predictive analysis and data visualization techniques using relevant tools (e.g. Tableau, Data Studio.)

Responsibilities

• Responsible to execute requirements and solutions.
• Works closely with Product team to understand customer/biz data needs
• Collaborate with other cross team architects, product owners, data professionals, and software & data engineers to drive the implementation of new applications
• Strategically manages relationships with data partners and collaborate on opportunities for automation and operational improvements.
• Hands-on (technical/data analysis leadership, mentors’ others).
• When applicable, translate product needs into data models and analytical solutions.
• Responsible for internal documentation of data and knowledge transfer to other teams.
• Responsible for the integrity of data: data entering or leaving the platform, reporting on data quality.
• Develop database solutions to store and retrieve company information
• Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions and modernize using new, emerging tech stacks, open-source products
• Optimize new and current database systems
• Conduct architecture and code review to ensure compliance with standards, security and backup procedures
• Coordinate with the Data Science team to identify future needs and requirements
• Point of contact for support of data applications from operational standpoint

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a Lead Data Engineer, Data Architect or similar role
• Experience developing/supporting data applications in a cloud native environment such as AWS, GCP
• Able to tackle ambiguous problems, execute analysis, prioritize work and deliver projects on time.
• Experience with Python (Pandas/SciPy), R or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience as a data engineer, data scientist, data analyst or equivalent.
• Hands on experience in data-driven projects (e.g. analytics, measurement, modeling, machine learning);
• Experience with databases (Experience with data warehousing DBs a must).
• Big data engineering / database maintenance skills.
• In-depth understanding of database structure principles
• Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements
• Expertise in SQL and BigQuery
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Data Studio, etc.)
• Proven analytical skills
• Problem-solving attitude
• BSc in Computer Science or relevant field
• Advanced degrees (MA / MS / MBA / PhD) a plus
