POSITION OVERVIEW

Develop and apply methods to translate incoming data to an easy-to-understand, actionable result. Apply statistical and/or data science methods to characterize system performance.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Review data for quality and the presence of inconsistencies to qualify data and discuss with the designated project team(s).
• Develop models for classification and quantitation.
• Create algorithms for online data processing that can be integrated with software.
• Work with an interdisciplinary team to develop real-world, end-to-end solutions.
• Support data collection activities by recommending experiments to fill gaps in the data.
• Archive and track data in a database.
• Report findings to project team and leadership.
• Generate and capture intellectual property.
• Work with scientists and engineers to understand data; work with product team to understand requirements.
• Clean data using various techniques such as filtering, smoothing, drift correction and environmental compensation.
• Other duties as assigned.

HOW YOU’LL DO IT

• Analytical approach to problem solving using logical, systematic and sequential approaches.
• Manage complexity by making sense of complex, high-quantity and sometimes contradictory information.
• Define and maintain system performance using standard metrics (e.g., probability of detection, receiver operator characteristics, truth tables).
• Apply various methods for detection, classification, and quantitation.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality, honesty and integrity with respect to company matters.

WHAT TO BRING

• Advanced degree (or extensive experience beyond bachelor’s degree) in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and related data science packages such as numpy, pandas, sklearn, scipy, matplotlib.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including data visualization.
