The primary role of the Senior Data Analyst is to identify, design and develop data analytic routines to support transformation, business analysis, process improvement and automation initiatives as part of the Operational Excellence Department in the bank's Transformation Office.
The Senior Data Analyst adds value to various projects and services in two principal manners: (1) leading the gathering and manipulating of data to support organizational decision-making processes, and (2) by translating data into information through analysis and reporting to be consumed by the organization.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Guides the processes and people responsible for accurate data collection, processing, modeling, and analysis.
- Lead strategic analytical projects that provide relevant insights or promote operational change.
- Partner with stakeholders to make data-driven decisions across the organization by applying descriptive and predictive analytics where it will have a material impact.
- Providing data expertise and technical analysis support to ingest and integrate large volumes of disparate data from a variety of sources.
- Apply a diverse set of tactics including statistics and quantitative reasoning to solve problems, research, and produce actionable insights.
- Ensure data quality and implement tools and frameworks for automating the identification of data quality issues.
- Communicate analysis and decisions to partners and executives in verbal, visual, and written media.
- Provide comprehensive daily analytics support to partner teams, develop resources to empower data access and self-service so your expertise can be used where it is most impactful.
- Data modeling, profiling, source-to-target mapping, normalization and cleaning from various data sets and sources.
- Define data formats, requirements, derivations/calculations and valid values.
- Gather and process all types of data including raw, structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Create visualizations to be used by various teams or stakeholders to enable strategic decision making.
- Analyze large amounts of data using tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, ServiceNow, etc.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Strong analytical skills to support organizational decision-making with respect to business functions.
- Strong skills in data manipulation including use of Excel, Power BI, etc.
- Technical expertise regarding data models, normalization, and segmentation techniques.
- Highly skilled at writing queries, reports, and presenting findings.
- Familiarity with database management, SQL, Hadoop, light programming, HTML 5, JavaScript and ETL frameworks.
- Excellent time management, planning and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to interact appropriately with all levels of the organization, including business users, technical staff, senior-level colleagues, vendors, and partners.
- An extensive track record that demonstrates effectiveness in driving business results through data and analytics.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Technology or Business-related discipline and a minimum of 5 years Data Analysis or relevant analytics experience.
- Experience in a banking environment.
- Demonstrated experience working within cross-functional teams within a formalized methodology.
- Major Data Analysis certification preferred.
