Currently, we are looking for a skilled Data Analyst, with experience in systems and projects within the Financial Market domain, to join the Data Team of our client.
We always hire for a career in EPAM, but the initial client for this hire is a leading UK based Hedge Fund with a New York presence with aggressive growth aspirations and a challenging delivery agenda.
Our ideal Data Analyst is passionate about data and the financial market, and among other reasons will consider this position because they have an interest in working in a dynamic and challenging environment with room to bring their skills to implement solutions that will provide to the stakeholders timely clean data to support them in their decision-making process and operations. Also, you are a great fit for our team if you are keen to be part of daily operations of a Market Data team, working with multidisciplinary teams.
You will join an established team that organizes weekly shifts between Support/BAU and Project tasks. One of the Market Data team's mandates is progressively improving its operations making it overtime more reliable, robust, documented, and automated.
Responsibilities
On Project-time:
Using data skills to drive automation
Work in stories that aims to improve team’s efficiency: manual processes automation, data quality/sanitizing checks, triggering alerts/reports, monitor dashboards, tooling creation
Specification of new functionality as required by projects across the firm
Ongoing improvement of knowledge through better documentation and knowledge management infrastructure
On Support/BAU-time:
Be the first point of call for market data needs from the investment desk
Identify and manage risks and flag major issues early
Help investigate complex functional data issues, assist in root cause analysis and establish solutions
Suggest innovative solutions to business problems/processes that leverage technology to provide efficiency improvements and better user experiences
Play a proactive role in spotting improvement opportunities
Engage with external and internal data providers
On-call, participate in support on-call rotations one week a month (Mon-Fri):
On call start time: Flexible, the team will organize shifts to accommodate
On call end time: 11pm CET
Compensation: On call: 35% of hour rate and Overtime compensation: x1.75 for any hours worked during on-call period
Flexibility to swift shifts between the team members
Requirements
SQL and solid data interrogation skills
Python (for data analysis and automation – pandas, etc.)
Experience automating processes using workflow orchestration tools
Advanced Excel skills
Financial market domain knowledge
Have clear understanding of features of main asset classes: Equities, Bonds, Derivatives
Experience documenting processes and procedures
Soft Skills:

You communicate clearly and concisely and can transfer knowledge efficiently
You have good attention to detail and strive for learning
You form strong, honest, and mutually respectful relationships with the key client, visiting their London office as required
Nice to have
Advanced ANSI SQL capabilities for data interrogation
Experience of building Tableau workbooks
Code management tools and experience of working from a checked-in code base
Market data experience (pricing, exchange codes, etc.)
Experience with industry vendors e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, IHS Markit
Experience in Agile projects, working knowledge of Jira and Confluence
