Newsweek is seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an Azure Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our data processing and analytics infrastructure on the Azure platform. Working closely with the data and analytics team, you will leverage Azure technologies to facilitate data ingestion, storage, transformation, and visualization for efficient data integration and valuable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement robust data pipeline using Microsoft Stack
• Create reusable and scalable data pipelines
• Development and deployment of new data platforms
• Use Azure BI services for development of Big Data Platforms
• Create reusable components for rapid development of data platform
• Deploy AI algorithms into the data platform
• Work closely with the Product Owners and Architects to develop Azure Data Platforms
• Work with the leadership to set the standards for software engineering practices within the IT team and support across other disciplines
• Play an active role in team meetings and workshops with clients.
• Choose and use the right analytical libraries, programming languages, and frameworks for each task
• Produce high-quality code that allows us to put solutions into production
• Refactor code into reusable libraries, APIs, and tools
• Help us to shape the next generation of our products
• Implement security, privacy, and compliance measures to ensure data protection and regulatory requirements are met.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to identify and resolve any issues or errors in data processing, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
• Collaborate with data scientists and business analysts to understand their analytical requirements and assist with data visualization and reporting using Power BI or similar tools.
• Stay up to date with the latest Azure technologies and industry best practices, continuously improving data engineering processes and optimizing data pipeline performance.

Qualifications:

• Experience in Data Warehousing with Big Data or Azure cloud technolgies
• Graduate degree educated in computer science or a relevant subject
• Good software engineering principles
• Strong experience with Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake and Python
• Experience in working on Azure Services like Azure Data Factory
• Experience of working in Agile delivery
• Experience with API integration

Desirables:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong documentation skills,
• Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI
• Understanding of AzureML
• Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, database design, and data warehousing principles.
