Description/Job Summary
The Data Analyst brings technical expertise to ensure the quality and accuracy of Association data and assists in the implementation of an enterprise data governance program.
Responsibilities/Duties
Data Governance- Participates in cross functional data projects by providing subject matter expertise related to data flow, data regulatory requirements, and other Farm Credit System data reporting requirements
- Maintains documentation of key data processes, critical data elements, data sources, and data controls
- Is the subject matter expert and administers the data governance tool of Callibra
- Implements end to end financial and operational data reporting changes
Reporting- Maintains general knowledge of Farm Credit regulations, reporting requirements, Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICFR), and related processes
- To the extent possible, automates monthly, quarterly and annual internal reporting
- Given a set of objectives and/or asusmptions, prepares analyses under the direction of the VP Data Analytics
- Uses past and present data aggregation and data mining to gather and summarize information
- Identifies trends, issues, and opportunities from information gathered
- Maintains standardized reporting practices to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with ICFR
Other Projects- Participates on internal committees to participate in research, development, and implementation of special programs and/or initiatives and provide recommendations
- Researches various topics as identified
- Provides ad hoc reporting for internal sources
Association Liaison- Serves as a liaison with third parties, including but not limited to other Farm Credit institutions, service providers/vendors, and collaborative partners on data analytics projects
Data Integrity, Security and Confidentiality
Appropriately protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association's systems and data and clients' data
Required Skills
General knowledge of finance and macroeconomics- Experienced in Structured Query Language (SQL) and Azure or related databases
- Experience with Collibra or related data governance software
- Skill in report design/writing
- Skill in utlizing Work, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Skill in oral and written communication sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, management, other Farm Credit contacts, and a variety of audiences.
- Skill in analyzing complex financial data by using logic and quantitative reasoning
- Skill in organizing material and information in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and understanding
- Skill in establishing and maintaining relationhsips with a variety of internal and external organizations and individuals to advance the organization's interests and increase personal efficacy
- Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as work independently, determining priorities
- Ability to work in a changing environment and adapt accordingly
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, data science, or a related field and
3-5 years of work experience in data or reporting;
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with SQL, SSRS and/or Power BI are preferred.
