The Analytics Lab is a small cross functional team within the Enterprise Data and Analytics function focused on raising awareness and promoting analytics across the enterprise through branding, communication and outreach.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Analytics Lab the Data Scientist I, Analytics Lab, will provide subject matter expertise through consultancy type arrangements with various business segments in addition to researching new tools and capabilities. The individual will also support the wider Lab team on engagement events including hackathons and the development of the Lab website.

Job Description

Engage with business partners to consult on value driven analytical opportunities
Guide on mathematical concepts for the broader applied analytics team and inspire the adoption of advanced analytics and data science across the organization
Educate the organization on analytical approaches, such as testing hypotheses and statistical validation of results
Help the organization understand the principles and the math behind the scientist process to drive organizational alignment
Research organizational and professional trends, evaluate information sources, and collate and compare findings for bias, omission and accuracy, conduct objective analysis
Research and test new data & analytical tools and capabilities
Support the organization of data and analytical community events and workshops
Support the development of the Lab website
Collaborate with Enterprise Analytics team on best practice.
Establish positive working relationships across multiple business and technology partners, program and project managers
Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business units

Job Requirements

Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
Statistics, Mathematics, Computer science, Economics, Business
3 – 5 years of professional experience preferred
3 + years experience in programming languages: SQL and Python / R. Experience in HTML/ Java script an asset
Machine learning experience with knowledge of tools and frameworks such as TensorFlow, Pytorch.
Familiarity with statistical modeling, segmentation, linear regression, hypothesis testing (t-tests and analysis of variation)
Experience with major Big Data technologies including Spark and working with structured and unstructured data
Experience with Microsoft Azure an asset
Analytical, rigorous and high attention to detail
Highly self-motivated with a positive attitude
Strong written and presentation skills
Languages: English with French an asset
