Job Summary
Mathematics is your passion and programming your daily bread? You like to work on seemingly unsolvable tasks and are only satisfied when you have a clean solution? You can combine intelligent algorithms with suitable programming languages and infrastructure and lead to an outstanding solution? As a Data Scientist, you will work at the interface between mathematics, programming and infrastructure. You set the decisive direction in the construction of Big Data architectures and develop the appropriate algorithms.
Responsibilities
- Developing mathematical models in the area of machine learning and statistical learning that describe the effects of prices and promotions on purchasing behavior, including behavioral price effects.
- You are able to find and apply a middle ground between the use of flexible modern AI methods and proven classical methods.
- You will develop systems for optimization and experimental design that find the best strategies for each product.
- To ensure the accuracy of our models, you develop model validation (back-testing) methods to quantify the impact of our solutions on our clients' business.
- You work with product management to generate ideas and quickly turn them into efficient, well-tested, working code (in the Data Science area, we mainly use R and Python).
- In collaboration with the engineering team, you contribute to the development of highly scalable solutions.
- You act as a Data Science expert both within the company and for our customers. This includes:
- Performing custom analytics and connecting to actionable business, inventory, and pricing strategies.
- Prioritizing the development of new features by evaluating potential impacts.
- You will act as a point of contact for data science-related questions about our product.
Qualifications
- You completed a full course of university or technical college education in (business) informatics, data science, mathematics or a comparable qualification.
- Core skills in: Linear algebra, hypothesis testing, Bayesian methods, regressions, maximum likelihood estimation, parametric and non-parametric estimation methods.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with data analysis and the development of intelligent algorithms, ideally in the retail or consumer products industries.
- Experience analyzing large data sets and confidently applying appropriate analytics tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python).
- Experience with Big Data environments and NoSQL (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Hive).
- Independent and team-oriented, you drive topics forward and convince with reliability and conscientiousness.
- Fluent in English.
