About the Role:

Direct Line Group is going through an exciting transformation to be the leading data driven business in the UK’s general insurance market. Our Data Enabling team are looking to expand competitive advantage for DLG with the effective use of data being at the heart of their mission. We’ve created a cutting edge cloud-based (AWS) Analytics & Data Science platform to truly unleash the value of our data assets.

Whether it's analysing and interpreting raw data to improve customer digital journeys or inspiring our stakeholders through the development and implementation of new data methodologies that can drive our digital transformation, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in a multitude of exciting projects.

What we're looking for:

Effective team players who are humble, ambitious and have strong people skills. You'll have a broad range of skills and knowledge so that you can work closely and partner with the business to drive the governance of data and foster a culture that encourages data to be cared for and treated as an asset. You’ll flourish in an agile environment and be familiar with the associated methodologies and ways of working.

You’ll need experience in topics like:

  • Interpreting complex relational and non-relational data schemas, Metadata modelling.

  • Best practises in relation to Enterprise Data Catalogues, Data Lineage, Data Profiling, Reference Data, Data Policies.

  • Incident Management and particularly effective Root Cause Analysis.

  • Data Querying Languages / Tooling

  • Experience working within a Data Governance/Data Quality or equivalent role

You’ll be used to working with technologies like:

  • Informatica IDQ,EDC,Axon.AWS Glue.

  • Jira and Confluence.

  • Standard Query Languages like SQL, SAS, Python.

  • Microsoft 365 Suite.

Who you'll be working with:

You will work as part of a cross-functional agile delivery team, including Analysts, Architects, Stewards, Owners as well as Marketing and Pricing and Underwriting where appropriate. We appreciate the knowledge and skills that each one of us brings to the business. It’s hard not to be encouraged by the things that make us unique. You will report to a Chapter Lead within Data.

What you'll be doing:

  • Perform data analysis/engineering tasks to support the delivery of insight/visualisations for our core data analytics platform, using our strategic insight toolsets

  • Partner with the business to understand their data challenges and build technical solutions to address these needs.

  • Translate complex data sets and analysis into actionable recommendations and present them to business stakeholders across multiple levels of seniority and knowledge.

  • Proactively identify and deliver proof of concept(s) to demonstrate the ‘art of the possible’.

  • Ensuring the ethical use of data by complying with core DLG policies, statutory and regulatory framework(s).
