Data Engineer

Purpose of the role | 12 Month Fixed Term Contract | Potential to Extend


As a Data Engineer you will support the NGM Group on its journey to continue to evolve our data infrastructure and analytics. You will partner with our business stakeholders and strategic roadmaps teams, to deliver high quality data solutions and integrations. It is expected you will be an active participant in all working groups, stand up and advisory groups while collaborating and sharing knowledge with technology peers. Your knowledge and understanding of programming languages will allow you to understand and pull timely, relevant insights from our data assets when working with cross-functional teams.


What will your key responsibilities include?


  • Software Design You will take business requirements and design system changes or enhancements while ensuring documentation is aligned to the business requirements and adheres to our SDLC.
  • Software Development You will bring the business requirements to life by developing high quality data solutions. While completing development activities in a particular language / platform to specific standards, documentation will be prepared for future reference.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance While working with business stakeholders you will implement data solutions into the Dev, UAT and Prod environment. You will ensure testing is as effective as possible and that the development activities meet quality assurance expectations.



What are we looking for?


  • You will have a detailed understanding and knowledge of business intelligence, data warehousing and data lake concepts.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience working with large volume databases
  • Strong communication skills with experience in presenting and translating business needs into technical solutions and producing informative technical and non-technical documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
  • A natural ability to engage and work with a broad variety of stakeholders including senior management and executives
  • Well developed and confident decision making ability
  • Previous experience within financial service would be highly regarded
  • Technical proficiency in, Microsoft On-prem SQL Server and Azure BI Stacks, ETL development processes, Transact-SQL, Snowflake, Qlik Replicate, Python or Powershell
