Alongside veterinary practices, we also operate pet crematoria, laboratories, a distribution centre, and an online business and buying groups.



As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of robust data engineering and business intelligence solutions. Using the Microsoft BI Stack, you will continue the design & build of the Data warehouses, integrating different data sources, providing a single source of truth.



You will build and maintain insightful reports and dashboards in Power BI & ad hoc analysis as requested by the business stakeholders.



Please note: this is a remote position with occasional expectation to meet at our Head Office in Diss, Norfolk and other CVS locations.



Key Responsibilities and Functions:

Data Engineering:

  • Design and implement scalable ETL/ELT processes using SSIS, ADF or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Manage data pipelines, ensuring the timely and accurate flow of data from sources such as APIs, Magneto, dynamo DB & Google Analytics to the data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with other teams to understand their data requirements.

Data Warehousing:

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the data warehouse using Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Ensure data integrity, performance, and security within the data warehouse environment.
  • Implement data modelling best practices to support analytical reporting and business intelligence needs.

Business Intelligence:

  • Develop and maintain interactive reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights.
  • Work with the finance team to deliver reports required for the month end processes.

General

  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and best practices.



Skills and Experience Required:

  • Experienced in the Microsoft BI Stack, including SQL Server, SSIS / ADF, Microsoft Fabric, & Power BI.
  • Experience of Microsoft Azure of other cloud vendors.
  • Advanced SQL & DAX knowledge including performance tuning.
  • Able to extract & process data from APIs using python, Fabric/ADF or other language.
  • Experienced in the design & build of data warehouses.
  • Highly proficient in data modelling.
  • Excellent analytical skills with great attention to detail.
  • Be able to demonstrate good understanding of business operations and strong commercial acumen.
