Every immune system has a story to tell— the key is knowing how to listen. Our goal is to meaningfully improve people's lives by learning from the wisdom of their adaptive immune systems. It's a bold objective that we're uniquely built to achieve.

At Adaptive, you'll be challenged, you'll be inspired, and you'll be part of an innovative organization making a real impact on improving the quality of life globally. No matter what your role is, you'll find a diverse, team-driven, fun culture where your contributions truly count.

Position Overview

Adaptive is seeking an experienced and motivated Data Scientist (biostatistics/computational biology) to contribute to essential experimental design and analysis activities that support molecular product development of IVD LDT assays and kits.

This role is part of a dynamic Molecular Product Development division that works with diverse functional groups at Adaptive Biotechnologies, creating robust immunosequencing applications to significantly improve patient care.

The successful candidate will have prior experience of applying biostatistics and computational biology methods to development activities under Design Control by developing study protocols, statistical analysis plans, performing analyses, and writing reports.

  • Contribute to or lead the statistical analysis design process supporting IVD-level product and QC method development studies while adhering to appropriate regulatory guidance, including CLSI and Design Control
    • Independently write and contribute to study protocols, data analysis, and final reports in working with other scientists in the group
    • Facilitate consensus approval for development study protocols, coordinating input from various technical stakeholders to ensure statistical plans meet business needs, quality, and regulatory requirements
    • Utilize internal processes and tools that support efficient document writing and life-cycle maintenance
  • Ability to understand and contribute to analysis of NGS immunosequencing data, which will require developing innovative methods for statistical analyses for big complex data generated through the experiments
  • Other responsibilities, as appropriate

  • Advanced degree (PhD/MS) in molecular genetics, biostatistics, computational biology, or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in application of statistics and data science in healthcare and may include complex biostatistical analyses used for regulatory IVD product development under design control
  • Prior experience with JMP, R, Python, or other statistical analysis software
  • Excellent technical scientific writing, communication and organizational skills, with significant attention to detail
  • Design of Experiments experience for molecular product development and optimization is strongly preferred
  • Experience in therapeutic areas (hematology, oncology, immunology) with NGS technology is preferred

Skills & Competencies:

  • Demonstrated soft skills required to function successfully in a matrixed-group team; listening, openness, and respect for diverse opinions and perspective required
  • Able to communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Hands-on, self-directed, organized and conscientious
  • Must work independently and prioritize multiple projects within tight timelines
  • Proven ability to work under pressure with short deadlines to accomplish objectives
