Data Scientist (m/f/d)

The Medical Data Science Group is a part of the University Medical Center Freiburg and closely works with clinicians of all medical fields. We support every step of medical research, develop new analysis techniques and workflows, and offer technical solutions for clinical scientist. As diverse as the medical research are our data and projects: Examples of our projects are the CORD-MII project, where the challenge is to identify patterns in routine care data that might be associated with rare diseases, the POLAR-MII project, where complex medication interactions should be learned via deep learning techniques, and the MIRACUM consortium, where the data are distributed across several German University Medical Centers and need to be analyzed under data protection constraints. Most of our application are from the routine care of the University Medical Center or from disease specific registries.

You are convincing through:

  • a strong background in data science (e.g., Master or PhD in biostatistics, bioinformatics, mathematics, or equivalent)
  • enthusiasm for science and methodological research, strong motivation, and the drive to learn new techniques and to work synergistically in a team
  • programming skills (e.g., R, Python, Julia, or equivalent)
  • very good communication skills in English and German
The position is full or part time and initially limited to 3 years.
