Job description

Software Developer


The Software Developer job programs and configures software to meet business needs. Under close supervision, this job assists with identifying and analyzing business software needs, writes basic code to optimize the performance and efficiency of the organization's information technology (IT) platform and infrastructure and conducts testing to ensure programs are functioning properly.


Key Responsibilities And Duties


  • Writes business requirements and technical specification documents to design and develop technical solutions that meet business needs in the financial industry.
  • Communicates with IT contacts and business partners to design, develop, and troubleshoot end-to-end technical solutions.
  • Performs basic coding to written technical specifications.
  • Ensures coding components are in accordance with company standards and as defined in approved testing plans.
  • Identifies and suggests corrections for reported defects.
  • Creates run time profiles to identify any debug errors that may exist.
  • Escalates issues as appropriate to more senior team members.
  • Seeks advice from senior management regarding challenging software circumstances and other problems that require a more complex understanding of information technology (IT).

Mandatory Skills and Abilities:


  • Strong Datastage knowledge is must
  • Strong DWH concepts
  • Familiar with scheduling tools preferably Autosys
  • Good hands on Oracle PL/SQL
  • Working knowledge on Unix/Linux
  • Can handle delivery end to end with ownership
  • Helps junior members in the team to come up to the speed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sharp sense of urgency when needed
  • Team player


Key Duties & Responsibilities:


A successful candidate will perform the below mentioned activities, based on their skillsets and trainability.


  • Collaborate with IT and Business partners to research, design, develop, and troubleshoot end to end technical solutions.
  • Leverage in depth knowledge of DataStage/Oracle/unix/Autosys to code, test and deploy strategic technical solutions in accordance with business needs
  • Accountable for providing estimates and logical work plan to deliver applications on time and within budget that meets or exceeds quality standards
  • Interpret written business requirements, functional requirements and technical specification documents to design and develop technical solutions that meet business needs
  • Perform complex defect verification, debugging, testing and support. Support the systems by investigating, analyzing and documenting reported defects.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation using defined technical documentation templates that meet SDLC standards.
