We are looking for a dynamic Senior Data Analyst to join our team! Senior Data Analyst supports the review of the performance of. The Senior Data Analyst will perform data analytics to support evidence-based decision making. The Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Medical Disability Examination Office (MDEO) oversees several major programs in the administration of disability compensation benefits for Veterans and their families, ranging in size and complexity that require program management support and business analysis services.

MDEO requires support for business activities surrounding Knowledge Management, Business Process Improvement, Performance Metrics, Enterprise Platform Systems and Best Practices development. This will include management analysis, design, development, implementation, modification, sustainment, oversight, auditing, and portfolio management of various projects. These projects target improving the efficiency of benefits delivery through application development, procedural modifications, process streamlining and systems management. The client is located in the Washington DC metro area, but work location can be remote. This position is contingent upon award.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform data mining and analysis using sound statistical techniques to expose meaningful information and identify trends, patterns, or discrepancies within a given dataset or datasets
  • Develop and implements complex data analyses or data collection systems and programs in support of programs to optimize data gathering
  • Use, maintain, and/or administer databases
  • Present findings in easy-to-comprehend spreadsheets, exhibits (including tables, charts, etc.), data visualizations, and written summaries
  • May provide additional data services including data cleaning, transformation or migration of complex datasets, and more
  • Monitor and Modify Create and modify dashboard filters
  • Assist client in interface with PA&I and OIT on data related questions/issues
  • Build queries/dashboards to support inquiries and analyses
  • Develop SOPs to support data and analysis deliverables and processes
  • Support standard deliverables and ad-hoc reports/analyses

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, or Statistics
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience working with data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Visio, and SharePoint
  • Able to obtain a minimum of NACI (National Agency Check with Inquiries) for a Veterans Affairs Public Trust Clearance
  • Requires strong knowledge and experience with data modeling, database design, data mining, and statistical analysis methods and the tools, standards, and platforms (Excel, SPSS, SQL, XML, XSLT, etc.)
  • Experience with Access and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE)
  • Exceptional skills around Microsoft Excel to include formulas creation, macros, and leveraging the data analysis tools
  • Experience with dashboarding tools such as Tableau
  • Programming skills using Python for automation of analysis and reporting activities

  • Highly desired: DoD and VA experience as a contractor or otherwise
  • Highly desired: Former military experience
