The Role

Job Purpose

Civil/Offshore/Pipeline engineer provides integrity support for civil and structural elements of an asset (onshore and offshore facilities) throughout the company areas of operation to ensure structural integrity so that all process, utility and associated plants operate safely, efficiently & reliably.

Create condition history for civil and structural elements based on past inspection and maintenance reports to carry out Civil RBI/RCM study.
Provide technical support to Plan and manage improvements in inspection Data management
Provide Support to Asset team to integrity of structures and foundations supporting equipment and other critical facilities.
Provide procedure for fabric maintenance of civil structures
Prepare SOPs/Work Instructions/maintenance procedures for the inspection of structures and recommend repair/strengthening activities to ensure structural integrity of the plants & equipment.
Perform analysis for new/existing structures and assess the health/stability/integrity of the structures based on the analysis.
Prepare project/maintenance execution to ensure structural stability/integrity and quality plans, project plans of works, initiate safety review and initial environmental review and project controls system.
Learn from old case studies- the engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues.
Support assets in digitalization through support in Civil-wIMS (web Integrity Management Systems), SAP, and similar applications.

Principal Accountabilities
Principal results expected from the job

Develop good understanding and building skills as per the Inspection engineer’s competency.
Help and coordinate with the Senior inspection engineers, various activities for analyzing gaps and improving reliability of the assets.
Working with dedicated assets to understand the requirements and helping them identify gaps with the guidance from senior RBI engineers.
Steep learning curve to develop skills for various tools is high desirable.
Interact and communicate with the site focal for RBI studies and maintenance strategies, understanding the intricacies about how the actual Inspection activities for civil and structures elements have been planned and performed in various Units of Shell.
Managing stakeholders/ representatives of various operating units through effective communication and identifying & resolving the bottlenecks for data analysis, maintaining issue logs and use the same in implementing changes/improvements in the processes.
Network with counterparts and other levels of organization across the different operating units, data centers and develop external networks outside of FOD and Shell.
Interact and communicate with the site focal inspection leads for inspection related issues / initiatives / development needs and inspection strategies, understanding the intricacies.

This role exposes the individual to stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds located across different time zones.
The work comes in peaks and the person needs to be very good in prioritization and managing stakeholder expectations, resilient under pressure.
Confidence to work in virtual environment and managing engagement across different levels of stakeholders, including senior management for day to day operations. Includes initiative to identify business and technical issues within areas of responsibility.
Sound understanding of business/process workflow and having mature mindset to deal and behave under tough/challenging situations.
Strong proficiency in using English for both spoken and written communication
Shift work following operating hours of the production sites, manufacturing sites, chemical plants, supply chain and distribution location.
Resilient under pressure and able to work with people different culture and working style.
Willing to travel to various operating units/sites across the globe as per requirements.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Educational background, qualifications and experience typically required to perform the job

Education/Experience:
Under graduation in Civil Engineering or related full-time university degree.
Minimum 2-3 years of overall working experience preferably from Oil & Gas /Petrochemical Industries with experience in One or more than one of following areas: -
Experience in structural analysis, integrity and maintenance/ Installation/Erection & Commissioning.
Extensive experience in analysis and design of steel and concrete structures, shallow and deep foundations, pipe racks and elevated structures for heavy and large equipment using structural computer programs is a required skill.
Experience in working with stress analysis/structural design & analysis tools like STAAD.Pro / SACS.
Candidate should have ability to work in virtual environment and deliver.
Knowledge of SAP, Maximo (any database management software) is desirable.
Knowledge of Meridium, Capstone, w-IMS, CIMS (or any other integrity management software) is added advantage.
Awareness of Integrity improvement program / participated in workshop of integrity improvement of civil structures.
Awareness of RBI/RCM methodologies for Civil structures.
Maintenance and design knowledge of offshore and marine assets is an added advantage.
Knowledge of Lean CI methodology is an added value.
Effective communication skill and stakeholder management is a necessary skill for the job.
