Heluna Health invites applications for a Data Analyst Intern position in the Center for Public Health Research (CPHR) at the San Francisco Department of Public Health. CPHR is a research unit that engages in a wide range of public health social epidemiological and intervention research including studies of populations at high risk for HIV infection. CPHR has developed methods and strategies for tracking the HIV Epidemic that have been used locally and around the globe since the 1980s. The CPHR Investigators are global leaders in the epidemiology of HIV infection, HIV research training methods, and informing HIV prevention approaches.
The Data Analyst Intern will be responsible with conducting analyses and assisting with dissemination efforts for the Center for Public Health Research’s portfolio of research studies and HIV behavioral surveillance projects. They will work with Data Managers and Principal Investigators on scientific and programmatic analyses to produce publishable manuscripts, conference abstracts, data reports, and other dissemination products (e.g. infographics, social media dissemination, etc.)
This is a temporary (no longer than 1 year), grant-funded, full time, benefited position. Employment is provided by Heluna Health
: Principles and methods of biostatistics and; principles, theories and procedures of epidemiology including design and evaluation of epidemiology research; methods of collecting, cleaning, and analyzing complex data; commonly used statistical software; epidemiological and evaluation methods; and methods of preparing scientific research manuscripts and presentations.
: function independently and direct support staff with minimal supervision; apply sophisticated statistical techniques necessary for the ongoing monitoring and quality assurance of complex data and conduct analyses using common statistical software applications; evaluate epidemiologic and biostatistical findings to inform public actions; establish and maintain effective relationships with associates, providers, and the general public; prepare project proposals, scientific reports, evaluation summaries and publishable medical literature.
Possession of a master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Two (2) years of experience within a quantitative discipline with application to public health science, epidemiology, biostatistics, and/or clinical and translational sciences.
