The Data Analyst 2, Inventory Integrity will support Enterprise Inventory Integrity through performing data analysis and providing key insights related to overall Physical and Logical Inventory. The ideal candidate can translate business problems into actionable insights. They will achieve this through building productive relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders and providing ongoing data support that will produce quantitative analysis, drive meaningful action, and improve unit accuracy across Nordstrom. This individual will maintain a cross-functional backlog of business questions and provide a path toward answers and solutions based on effective development of data analysis.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter and strong technical contributor who is always looking for new opportunities to solve business problems with data-driven tools. The individual should be highly curious about the how the business works and possess the skills to unlock rich, nuanced insights from complicated data and communicate those insights in a way that drives positive business outcomes.

This is a Hybrid Seattle position - this position will split time between working from home and being in our downtown Seattle office (~2x/week).

A day in the life...

  • Support “the truth” in Physical and Logical data through processes including the acquisition, management, automation, and integrity of all data
  • Support identification of the data needs and priorities of the Enterprise Inventory Integrity team, coordinating with key business/data/tech partners across the Nordstrom organization
  • Collaborate with team members and business partners to deliver high quality solutions and recommendations to a variety of problems
  • Dive deep into complex business problems and provide insights through hypothesis testing and monitoring trends in key metrics
  • Identify opportunities for productionized reporting that will support management of ongoing business processes and deliver a simple and organized user access and experience
  • Support the development of interactive data visualizations, reports and effective analysis
  • Support the analysis and diagnosis around business problems and provide expert guidance to improve results
  • Use advanced analytical and statistical practices to create thorough and actionable insights
  • Excel at compelling story telling with data, providing clear insights that bring facts to support business hypothesis and anecdotes

You own this if you have...

  • 3+ years of professional experience analyzing complex data, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations
  • 3+ years of experience in development, manipulation, and management of large data sets from various relational databases using SQL
  • 3+ years of applied data experience with graphics/visualization software (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field with documented coursework in statistics or business analytics
  • Experience with statistical and machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification and/or clustering)
  • Strong coding skills in at least one statistical or programming language (R or Python preferred) to import, summarize, and analyze data
  • Expert knowledge of Query languages (e.g., SQL, U-SQL, etc.)
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced and dynamic organization
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication for individuals at all levels of analytical expertise
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • The ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems
  • Retail industry experience a plus
