Performs deep dive diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics, reliant upon foundational investment acumen, to support data-driven business decision making within the Investment Management Group.

The opportunity

Are you looking to have an impact on our investment process by leveraging your data engineering and data science skills? This is the role for you!

Solution delivery teams within our front office are responsible for defining and delivering strategic solutions using technology and data, partnering with our investment teams. We recognize the power of using data to drive innovation in the investment process and are looking to expand our data science workforce with UK presence. You will work on a wide range of projects, across our equity and fixed income teams, capital markets and investment strategy groups.

This role will be critical to the end to end delivery of initiatives, from experimentation all the way to production and to help identify and manage new innovation opportunities.

In this role you will

  • Engage with internal partners to understand business strategy, questions, and goals and form problem statements to be addressed.

  • Acquire and compile structured and unstructured data and verify its quality, accuracy and reasonableness.

  • Work independently on analyses, or contribute to and/or lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver initiatives aligned to each division’s roadmap.

  • Work with agile practises and encourage a culture of innovation and curiosity.

  • Provide advice, training, guidance around best practise for sophisticated modelling approaches (e.g. NLP).

  • Be responsible for technical acceptance of work, ensuring best practise is followed.

  • Collaborate across full stacked teams and divisions.

What We Are Looking For

  • MSc in quantitative or technical field (computer science, engineering, mathematics etc).

  • Experience owning and running data science initiatives and upskilling partners and teams

  • Strong knowledge of statistical modelling and/or machine learning techniques, with demonstrable proficiency in statistical programming languages (R, Python preferred)

  • Ability to present analysis outcomes and techniques in a clear, visual manner to senior stakeholders

  • Experience with text mining, analytics, unstructured data wrangling, cleaning and sampling

  • Experience in working within full stack teams and applying agile methodologies in innovation and technology delivery is a plus

  • Business /Financial Services acumen is a strong asset: the role will involve partnering with non-technical SME’s to seek business challenges so will require thinking beyond the technical and in the context of investment processes and strategy. Demonstration of competitor and opportunity awareness within the asset management space is a plus
