SENIOR DATA ANALYST- DATA ANALYTICS

Evidera has been providing outcomes research, data analytics and epidemiology services to clients in the biopharmaceutical industry for over 19 years. The Data Analytics team supports the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology/ medical device companies throughout the product lifecycle, from early pre-launch planning to launch and post-marketing management. Our focus is on helping our clients build economic and epidemiological evidence to demonstrate and support the value of their products. Through analysis of large health administrative databases (e.g., medical claims, electronic health records, registries, etc.), we may provide key information such as:

  • Treatment patterns and drug utilization
  • Resource utilization
  • The incidence and prevalence of diseases and co-morbidities
  • The incidence of adverse events
  • The impact of various risk factors
  • Burden of disease
  • Comparative effectiveness
  • Survival

Knowledge of the relationships between patient, drug, clinical and disease factors can significantly aid our clients in navigating potential drug-event causal relationships as well as in building stronger evidence-based value messages.

Position Overview:

The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for implementing a range of moderate to complex analyses in support of epidemiologic studies for our clients. This individual will work within a team of researchers in Evidera on epidemiological studies using retrospective and prospective data, clinical and observational, and both existing data such as large health administrative databases (MarketScan/Truven, Optum or CPRD as an example), and data collected explicitly for research objectives (de novo data collection), , and will be required to provide input in the planning and designing phases of projects. The main programming language is SAS (e.g., SAS Base, SAS Stat, SAS Macro) and/or R.. In addition, this individual will participate in quantitative analysis of

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Implements cohort selection, variable derivation, data management, analyses for the type of studies described above, and production of results using SAS or another of the programming languages specified aboveR with little or no supervision
  • Conducts validation and review of programs developed by other programmers in the team.
  • Reviews and assists in the development of athe protocol or statistical analyses plan and table shells, as well as the planning of the programming phase of the study.
  • Reviews and assists in the development of a protocol or statistical analyses plan with responsibility for planning and design phases of projects.
  • Independently handles client communication around cohort selection, and variable definitions. Act as main point of contact on client calls and present findings when requested.
  • Provides general infrastructure support to the department, including presenting/teaching at department meetings, assisting in establishing training materials, and contributing to other general department documents or policies. Contributes to a library of SAS Macros and/or R programs to increase programming efficiency.
  • Conducts all programming work per RWE Good Programming Practices and QA/QC practices.
  • Provides critical review of budgeted hours for Data Analysts for project planning purposes.
  • Manages and assignments to meet timelines and deliver high quality work, being familiar with any relevant contractual obligations or limits.
  • Provides training and guidance to junior team members. May have supervisory responsibilities.

Education, Professional Skills & Experience:

  • Education fields: Epidemiology, Health Economics, Biostatistics or related field
  • PhD with at least 3 years of relevant work experience; MSc with at least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Senior level expert in quantitative methods in epidemiology, statistics, health economics, or health services research, epidemiology or statistics with the focus on data analysis using observational retrospectivesecondary data sources such as electronic medical records, registry data or claims data, or clinical trial data using SAS (e.g., SAS Base, SAS Stat, SAS Macro) or R
  • Working experience in Python, PySpark or R; or SQL also relevant. Training will be provided for promising candidates without these additional experiences
  • Experience working with large databases such as claims, EMR, registry data, clinical trial datasets,MarketScan/Truven, Flatiron/EMR data, or similar are essential
  • Advanced knowledge of scientific research methods and practical knowledge of research implementation.
  • Advanced knowledge of fundamentals of epidemiology, health economics and statistics and epidemiology.
  • Advanced knowledge of scientific research methods and practical knowledge of research implementation.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant methodology and statistics.
  • Experience in Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
