PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Associate Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in planning, executing and delivering machine learning-based projects. The bulk of the work will be in machine learning (ML) modelling, management and problem analysis, data exploration and preparation, data collection and integration, operationalization.
This role will be a key interface between the data analytics center of excellence and the service lines, and various other business functions. Requires a self-driven, curious and creative individual. The role may also support the related roles of data analyst, data engineer and DevOps engineer at times.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES
- Problem Analysis – aligning business problems/opportunities to analytical decision models using relevant/available data and modeling techniques
- Project Management – organizing teams and tasks to successfully deliver outcomes
- Data Collection and Integration
- Data Exploration and Preparation
- Develop analytical solutions using Machine Learning and other advanced analytics techniques
- Operationalization of developed solutions including on-going model training
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferrably in computer science, data science, operations research, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Candidates will ideally have a specialization in ML, AI, cognitive science or data science. Experience in more than one area is preferred.
- Knowledge of predictive & prescriptive modeling methodology
- Understanding of both structured and unstructured data sources
- Ability to run experiments scientifically and analyze results
- Basic understanding of probability and statistical models (generative and descriptive models)
- Ability to test ML models using methods such as cross-validation, A/B testing, bias and fairness
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Programming/Coding Skills with familiarity with software and system engineering design principles & standards (e.g. TDD)
- Knowledge of/proficiency using one or more popular languages and frameworks such as SQL, Python, etc.
- Familiarity with version control technology, Git and the ususage of integrated development environment software, such as; Microsoft Visual Studio
- Basic familiarity with Knowledge Graphs, and Graph Database technology
- Basic familiarity with Open-Source Technology, Azure Cloud Services (preferred), and APIs
- Data visualization (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, QlikSense)

- Ability to work in diverse, cross-functional teams

- Ability to understand business & functional needs and translate into data analytics problem statements
- Display drive and curiosity to understand the business process to its core
