What you’ll be doing…

The Customer Solutions Data Engineer Intern is responsible for building data pipelines for extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) of data. The ideal candidate is proficient in SQL and Python, and has an understanding of the data value chain, from source systems to business consumption, as well as an understanding of relational database development and data modeling. The Data Engineer Intern work closely with our Data Engineer to support our team of Analysts and Data Scientists on initiatives, writing and reviewing code underlying the data ecosystem.

Some of the things you’ll be doing include …

• Write code to create and maintain data pipelines
• Assist in assembly of large, complex data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirements
• Identify, design and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
• Work with other team members to understand their needs and translate business requirements into technical requirements
• Create and maintain technical and documentation
• Assess and proactively improve own performance in such areas as job knowledge, technical skills, productivity, accountability, quality, initiative, innovation, communications.
  

Who you are…

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good working knowledge of SQL and Python
• Understanding of the data value stream from source systems to warehousing and end user presentation
• Experience with database design and management
• Experience with Tableau, Snowflake and Salesforce.com data preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects from start to finish, working effectively across internal functional teams is a plus.
• The courage and confidence to challenge the status quo.
• Strong organizational and follow through skills.
• Team player who can effectively collaborate. A willingness to jump in and help when needed, learn new skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to articulate ideas and proposals clearly to stakeholders.

Education/Experience:

• Currently completing graduate level course work, anticipated to graduate between Dec. 2021 – June 2022
• 2+ years experience in an engineering role. 2-3+ years ETL development experience.
• BSc in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
