Data Scientist/Data Engineering Sr. Analyst

Job description

Title: Sr. Analyst, Data Science

Location: Remote, Canada

Reports To: Senior Manager, Data Science & Engineering

The Role

As part of the data engineering team, the Data Engineer is responsible for designing and optimizing data structure, developing ETL processes, preparing and maintaining related documents, and automating and implementing data processes for different data projects and products.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with project teams in different kinds of data related projects, design and implement data structure/models, develop automated data programs with optimized performance.
  • As part of the Enterprise Data Hub implementation team, design, develop and maintain related ETL processes and data objects.
  • Perform and provide thorough tests, validation and complete documentation for all development tasks as required.
  • Perform business analytics and visualization in support of product teams in an iterated fashion during product development
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a quantitative or engineering field such as Computer Science and Information Systems, Database Management, Big Data, Data Engineering, Data Science, Applied Math, or other related area.
  • 5+ years of professional data analytics/engineering working experience. Experience with automotive data is a plus.
  • 3+ years of professional experiences with heavy usage of SQL and Python in daily development work. Proficient and advanced knowledge of SQL and Python programming is a must.
  • Familiar with ETL methodologies and Data Warehousing principles, approaches, technologies, and architectures, including the concepts, designs, and usage of data warehouses and data marts.
  • Familiar with python environment management tool (e.g., conda), experienced in using Git and the related tools (Github, Gitlab, etc.) through the whole programming process.
  • Experiences of cloud platform and products (such as Google Clouds, BigQuery, etc.) is a plus.
  • Good communication skills

Data Science has global responsibility for the research design, analyses planning and execution of all advanced analytics for survey research at J.D. Power. Additionally, Data Engineering team within Data Science is responsible for linking and optimizing datasets from all kinds of sources. You will report directly to Data Engineering Team Senior Manager and join a team of highly educated and enthusiastic data scientists and data engineers that collaborate regularly with each other and with other teams across the firm.
