About the Role

Zapata Professional Services works with customers of all shapes and sizes in several industry verticals, on a variety of interesting use cases. Zapata Professional Services exists to support the development of our customers’ vision, accelerate customers’ time to value, and drive a multitude of customer adoption scenarios of the technologies offered by Zapata's Orquestra® platform.
As a data engineer in the team, you will interact with our clients to understand their data analytics and data engineering needs and work together with scientists and engineers at Zapata and with the customer’s subject matter experts to develop solutions using Orquestra, with an emphasis on optimizing the retrieval, management, and use of data to power data analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Collaborate with other team members at Zapata and stakeholders and subject matter experts at the customer to understand customer’s needs and design data analytics solutions.
  • Design and implement data integration pipelines for data analytics solutions using the Orquestra platform.
  • Participate in the development of documentation and customer-facing assets, such as applications, software and database solutions, dashboards, etc.
  • Perform testing, optimization, debugging, and troubleshooting of data integration pipelines for customer applications.
  • Collaborate with different teams across Zapata in developing and enhancing Orquestra’s data analytics tools based on customer needs and learnings from customer/partner engagements.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Engineering degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, testing, optimizing, and troubleshooting data ETL solutions.
  • 1+ years of experience in a customer-facing or consulting engagement role.
  • Experience in Data Lake and Data warehouse design.
  • Experience with NoSQL, Relational, Graph, and Time Series databases.
  • Proficient in at least two standard programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++, Go, Julia).
  • Experience in analyzing, organizing, and visualizing data.
  • Comfortable with agile software development principles, with software version control and the Git environment, use of software project management tools (e.g. JIRA, etc.), and related best practices.
  • Familiarity with data integration concepts, tools, and technologies.
  • Good command of spoken and written English. Comfortable working in a highly international team.
  • Required travel occasionally for in-person meetings to the customer's location in USA.

Desired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :

  • Master's degree in computer science or related field.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning techniques.
  • Experience designing data analytics solutions based on cloud architectures and on-premise.
  • Experience in creating customer-facing documentation and assets.
