The data factory is a mature data function with a growing centralised data platform but also a data science platform developing delivering and maintaining ground-breaking algorithms on an enterprise level with a strong vision and executive support.

The ML ops process is considered ahead of the curve in the water space and will offer growing challenges to all levels. The benefit realisation will provide transformation to a digital first, data-driven business

The primary focus of our team is to add business value by unlocking actionable insights from our data and also evolve Augmented Intelligence tools that will be the ground for an AI enterprise platform.

The Data Factory will deliver data standards, governance and a single version of the truth. This will be hosted on leading edge platforms and tooling that’s fit for purpose and stored in a secure and documented manner to protect customer data and company reputation. All this will put the intelligent insight into the hands of our people to maximise its efficiency and continue to provide excellent customer service we need to harness our data and use it to drive intelligent, insight driven decisions.

As a Senior Data Scientist you will build data science solutions in collaboration with and supported by other team members and turn models and analysis into data-driven products. The role will where needed be assigned as technical lead of a data product guiding with help from the lead on technical direction. The role will help with mentoring the junior data scientists.

As Senior Data Scientist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Application of statistical modelling and machine learning techniques.
  • A/B testing and data analysis using statistical methods to generate insights and optimise existing and future business processes
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary projects with the wider tech team and business stakeholders
  • To monitor and mentor junior members of the team (data scientists) - upskilling the team

Stakeholder Management and Leadership:

The role will include explaining technical concepts to internal team members, particularly within the delivery teams. In addition, this person will be responsible for increasing the capabilities of the Data Science team in line with the Data Factory strategy and objectives. This role will also manage the relationship with key stakeholders throughout an analytics project.

Decision-making and Problem Solving:

The successful candidate must have strong analytic, creative thinking, problem solving skills and be used to working to a high degree of accuracy with a strong attention to detail. The majority of activities in this role are extremely time critical and, therefore, the individual must be resilient and comfortable operating in a somewhat pressurised environment.


To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong analytical background, e.g PhD or degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field; or equivalent experience
  • Established experience from working in industry or an academic data scientist position.
  • Proven practical experience of predictive modelling and pragmatic implementation of machine learning techniques to effectively solve real-world problems.
  • Someone that isn't satisfied with just applying out-of-the-box models, you want to know how they work, when they work and why they work
  • Understanding and familiarity with Azure cloud data related instances
  • Experience with statistical data analysis, ability to generate well founded insights from potentially unstructured data
  • Practical object-oriented programming experience in Python.
  • Experience with some of the common Python data-science toolkits: Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn
  • Experience with R, Matlab, and/or SQL would be beneficial.
