As a Data Engineer I in the Healthcare Economics department, you will create, modify, and test the code that constructs the data sets that drive our analytics. You will develop and write solutions to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data, and information and distribute through multiple methods. You will also perform basic ETL (extract, transform, load) processes.
This is a virtual/telecommuter position, working from home.
What you’ll do:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data sets and extract, transform, load (ETL) scripts and processes. Use scripting skills to create data models and pipelines.
  • Work closely with other data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand the needs, pace, and direction for our business partners. Translate these needs into requirements and specifications for data processes and tools.
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise and solve problems independently and collaboratively.
  • Work with data engineers and analysts to further understand business problems.
  • Develop code to complete effective solutions using applicable technology.
What you’ll bring:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar area, as well as knowledge of the software development lifecycle, relational database theory, and skills to utilize one or more programming languages. At a minimum, candidates must possess the typical requirements or the equivalent in education, experience, and skills. (Required)
  • Comfort with SQL and one or more other programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Java, or C#) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare specific regulatory requirements for data management.
  • Experience providing data integration services within healthcare organizations.
  • Knowledge of Snowflake, Tableau, SAS, R, or any cloud technologies.
  • Functional understanding and ability to apply and programming and scripting concepts skills across SQL-based technologies.
  • Familiarity with semi-structured data such as JSON or XML.
  • Basic knowledge of statistics.
  • Ability to use Extract Transform Load (ETL) tools (SSIS, Data Stage, Cask).
