Now entering its seventh year, Craft Gin Club has a membership of over 120,000 people in the UK. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Analyst to join our newly formed Digital Development team.

As our Lead Data Analyst, you will be working across the full width of our business, providing the tools and analysis skills needed to elevate and accelerate our growth. Working with data sets from Shopify Plus, ReCharge, Google Analytics, Loyalty Lion, Gorgias, Xero and more, the work you do will not only show the culminating results of all our teams, but also help to shape future strategy through modelling and forecasting.

We’re looking for someone who understands retail and ecommerce data intrinsically. You’ll have worked within other online brands, providing analytical services to businesses who are growing rapidly. We’d especially be keen to speak to you if you have worked within a subscription business.

You will be reporting to the Head of Digital, Data and Technology within the newly formed and growing technology function within Craft Gin Club. Working with such tools as RedShift, Mode Analytics, Glew and Google Analytics, you will work with our internal stakeholders to develop reports, dashboards and packs they need to identify success and highlight areas of improvement. You will use your analytical skills to extrapolate areas of improvement or ways to capitalise on success, then provide guidance to our departments on what they should be aiming for to take the business forward.

You will have a good level of technical understanding when it comes to business intelligence tools. You will be proficient in SQL, understand an ETL process, know what database schemas work best for reporting, and understand database structures. You’ll know how to write stored procedures and views, how to link tables in queries, and understand more complex structures such as slow changing dimension tables.

And although we do use Mode Analytics for our presentation layer, we do realise that you may not have worked on this system previously. However, you will need to have worked with similar systems such as Power BI, Google Data Suite, SSRS, Tableau, Qlik or Microstrategy and understand structures such as hierarchies, metrics, facts, attributes and transformations so that we can give you the training to step across to Mode.

We’re looking for an excellent all-round data analyst who likes to work within a small team and can chip in where needed. As a growing business, we rely more and more on our analytics to guide our future, and where we do plan ahead as much as possible, there is always a need within a retail organisation to respond quickly to changing circumstances and as such we are looking for someone who can be nimble in their day-to-day work.

This is a very exciting opportunity to join Craft Gin Club as we step up our in-house technology resource. As a small and growing team, you’ll be picking up the reins of our internal data analytics capability and providing an essential service to our business.

Key Accountabilities

  • Data Sources
    • Work with our technology partners to extract the right level of data for our reporting purposes.
  • Data Warehouse
    • Ensuring our data warehouse is populated with the most up to date data from source systems.
    • Verifying the accuracy of the data in our data warehouse against the source systems periodically.
    • Testing that transformations to ensure that facts and measures tie back to the raw data.
    • Ensure personal data protection regulations (UK-GDPR and PECR) are adhered to in the data warehouse and in the places where data is extracted to (with the assistance of the Head of DDT and our Data Protection Officer).
    • Ensure that the data within the data warehouse is securely held, and access to that data is carefully managed.
  • Data Presentation Layer
    • Working with stakeholders to design reports and dashboards.
    • Developing these reports and dashboards to the stakeholder’s satisfaction.
    • Scheduling and distribution of periodic reports.
  • Analytics Support Cover
    • Participating in the out-of-hours analytics emergency support cover should interruptions to normal operations occur.


  • Excellent knowledge of SQL.
  • Excellent database skills, preferably with Amazon RedShift but will also consider other SQL-based databases such as BigQuery, MS SQL Server, Snowflake and mySQL.
  • Excellent knowledge of a data presentation system. Mode Analytics would be great, but will consider experience in other systems such as Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio, Qlik Analytics, Microstrategy or MS SSRS.
  • A good level of experience working within an analytical role at another eCommerce retailer (especially one working with subscriptions).
  • Understanding of eCommerce data. Again, Shopify is preferred but will consider those with experience of systems such as BigCommerce, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Hybris or other transactional eCom platforms.
  • Excellent understanding of digital marketing data and visitor attribution. Must have excellent knowledge of Google Analytics.
  • Able to provide examples of taking analytics and converting them into insights and recommendations that have benefitted the knowledge recipients.
  • Ability to work and communicate with stakeholders from across our organisation.
  • Skilled at translating technical information into easy-to-understand terms for non-technical members of the Craft Gin Club team.
