Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Data Engineer to work with a team of Engineers on Asset Management’s Common Data Platforms. These data platforms utilized by 200+ applications are at the core of Asset Management’s systems.

This is a hands-on role where you will understand the requirements, contribute to the development of specific product features including provisioning of datasets, develop consumption interfaces, build reusable components and resilient cloud-based services, provide insights etc. for our Investment Professionals.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

  • Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Oracle SQL & PL/SQL
  • Some experience in data analysis
  • Experience in SQL performance tuning
  • Exposure to Agile development practices

The Skills You Bring

  • Familiarity with logical data modeling and relational database design
  • Data movement and ETL experience would be beneficial (preferably Informatica)
  • Reporting experience in platforms such as OBIEE and Tableau would be a plus
  • Experience with a source control system
  • Ability to work with project teams located in multiple geographic locations
  • Whilst the role is database focused, some experience in any of the following would be a plus:
  • Object-Oriented Software development with an understanding of associated development languages, specifically Java and/or Python, Spring boot plus familiarity with ORM frameworks
  • Working experience with some or all of the following: AWS, Containerization, associated build and deployment CI/CD pipelines, Lambda development.
  • Design of REST APIs and an understanding of microservice architectures and twelve factor application development
  • Knowledge of UI Technologies such as Angular or JavaScript, and experience with automated CI/CD processes & package managers

How Your Work Impacts the Organization

The position aligns to the Asset Management Technology organization which provides worldwide technology and support to the Investment Management, Research, Trading and Investment Operations functions. This Data Engineer role involves developing consistent, reliable, maintainable, performance focused code for Common Data platforms leveraged by the applications supporting Fidelity’s Asset Management business.

The team environment consists of a global Common Data team of approx. 60 associates working closely with members of the Data Modeler, DBA and Data Architecture teams.
