The Royal Alexandra Hospital Emergency Department, Senior Data Analyst, is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to provide leadership and support to the RAH and EZ Emergency Departments strategic initiatives, service plans, and projects to advance strategic objectives, quality clinical program development and implementation across the program and site. Reporting to the Executive Director, Emergency Departments, Edmonton Zone and informally to the Zone Medical Director for Emergency, the Senior Data Analyst works closely and with a high degree of independence to provide support to the Edmonton Zone Emergency Program strategic initiatives, service plans, and projects to advance strategic objectives, quality clinical program development and implementation.
The Senior Data Analyst Lead also: Consults with various Emergency Department stakeholders. Works with multiple data types (e.g. financial, clinical, patient experience, operational, workload etc.), multiple data sets, quality indicators, and is expected to support analytics that integrate data across multiple and complex data sources. Is accountable for: Advanced Analytics and Reporting; Database Development, Technical Leadership and Best Practices; Relationship management; and Project management. Uses advanced knowledge, expertise and experience to develop models and performs advanced predictive analysis to inform decision making. Review and investigate scheduled and ad hoc reports in response to the identification of concerns, inconsistencies and errors. Work with AHS ED clients to develop analysis/reporting for specific programs or projects. Work directly with clients, understanding their needs and using analytical knowledge and expertise to suggest and recommend how to build analytical reports that meet their needs, followed up with actual draft and then finalized implementation. All Management and Out Of Scope positions are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the AUPE General Support Services bargaining unit. The following specific skills and knowledge are required for this position: Strong track record in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with internal stakeholders. Excellent analytical skills, problem solving ability and attention to detail. Strong working knowledge of computer systems, web-based environments and the entire MS Office suite. Education and demonstrated skills in developing and using database software and the ability to apply skills and knowledge to new database environments. Education and demonstrated skills in data query and report building using various tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Excel, Tableau). Demonstrated knowledge of the health system in general, their data sets (e.g., NACRS, ICD10, and Emergency Department) and how to link and use this data. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Proven ability to work and make decisions independently. Able to deal with time pressures, uncertainty, shifting priorities and complex work assignments. Three to five (3-5) years’ progressive experience in data, analytics, reporting, program evaluation or similar field.
Master degree in with a strong quantitative focus (eg. Health economics, Health Sciences, epidemiology, biomedical statistics etc.) is preferred.
