General Position Summary:

The Planning data analyst support role creates, implements and optimizes tools and reports in order to support the demand planning team.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

Support the demand planning team in their daily functions.

Build understanding of demand planning processes and needs and develop/use tools to support seasonal execution

Support demand planning team in providing usable data to facilitate forecasting activities in the systems.

Proactively seek innovative ways to use/optimize systems reports and propose solutions to increase efficiencies.

Exchange information with other departments as necessary to ensure timely and accurate data analysis/generation

Process Execution:

  • Prepare, verify and process all types of reports, data sets
  • Provide recommendations for improvement of data management in order to enhance business efficiency
  • Ensure accurate and on-time audits, reports and data management execution
  • Consolidate, process & audit data sets
  • Resolve queries efficiently
  • Manage team reports and verify they are accurate & workable
  • Collaborate with technical department as Business Analyst to improve and optimize our processes
  • Proactively manage the scheduling of work beyond the level expected

Lead by example in terms of defining and implementing how to best manage the day to day activities

Act as a member of the Planning team by maintaining a high professional standard in individual behavior for the demonstration of respect, courtesy and professionalism to others.

Other Functions:

Maintain positive open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear management, staff and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.

Consider and act with team cohesion & team spirit

Perform other duties as assigned

Collaborate with Planning manager and other team members as required.

As system experts, maintain updated operational procedures and ensure regular communication to the team

Job Scope:

Job has some variation depending on the issues or problems that appear. Job involves a level of complexity which varies depending on issues that need to be resolved. Incumbent follows established department practices and procedures but is frequently required to adjust them to accommodate department needs and requests in a timely manner, often with guidance from the planning lead. Work is checked on a regular basis, by results. Decisions are made within general department guidelines.

Interpersonal Contacts:

Contacts are normally made with others both inside and outside the organization. Internal contacts may include upper-level management personnel, the Planning Manager and/or Lead, Demand plannners, merch department.

Interactions tend to focus on information exchange and problem solving, and incumbent will often rely on guidance from planning manager or lead. Contacts include sensitive or confidential information. Incumbent often initiates contacts on his/her own by email, by phone and via face-to-face interaction.

Ablility to research and interpret information and data

Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to urgent requests/inquiries with and meet deadlines

Detailed and solution oriented

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Results-driven and ability to handle multiple projects

High proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel functions such as Pivot tables, charts and formulas (Sumif, Vlookup etc…)

Ability to read, speak and understand English , with excellent verbal and writing skills.

Mental ability to consider different solutions to a problem and choose the appropriate action, often under pressure.

Demontrate proactive and positive behavior at all times.

Ability to balance teamwork and autonomous work.

Accountability for their personal and professional development with support from the Supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibility, but the incumbent will direct tasks to Data processing operator.

Education and/or Experience:

An Associates Degree, or equivalent, and a minimum of five years experience in business environment, preferably in operations or a related field

Job Conditions:

Job requires hours that often exceed 7 hours per day and/or 35 hours per week during peak periods. Also includes extensive phone work and exposure to a computer CRT.
