The Data, Insights & Analytics team at Loblaw is hiring a Data Scientist, Data, Insights & Analytics with background in advanced analytics and machine learning. Reporting to the Senior Manager , Data, Insights & Analytics, the incumbent will use advanced techniques in obtaining and analyzing data to improve pricing and planning decisions across the entire organization. This role will be primarily responsible for improving existing and developing new predictive models, as well as automating decision-making processes. You will work closely with talented Data Scientists and the business owners, and you will learn the retail business in-depth.

What You'll Do:

  • To build and improve on shelf pricing optimization algorithms
  • Ability to extract and summarize complex data to improve business decisions.
  • Work with Loblaw and SDM partners to refine existing system algorithms.
  • Actively identify and execute initiatives to improve process and data infrastructure.
  • Strictly adhere to legal and compliance guidelines; regarding access and exposure to sensitive and confidential information

What You'll Bring:

  • Mandatory: Python, scikit-learn
  • Very experienced in data mining, working with a large relational customer database.
  • 3-5 years experience building predictive models (Machine learning, Deep learning), regression and time-series analysis using Python
  • 3-5 years experience in utilizing advanced SQL data extraction and manipulation tools (Preferably Teradata, Spark SQL).
  • Prior working experience with Microsoft Azure ( Databricks) and/ Google Cloud platform (Google analytics)
  • Superb analytical and conceptual thinking skills; to not only manipulate but also derive meaningful interpretations from data
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to deliver high-impact presentations on complex topics to leaders at all levels.
  • Experience within a large retailer would be considered an asset.
  • University Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or Mathematics is preferred
