We are looking for Genomic Data Scientists to join our Dublin Hub to help drive value and efficiencies from one of the world’s richest health-care datasets. As a Principal Data Scientist – Bioinformatics , you will be part of a transformational bioinformatics data science team looking to understand patient disease risk through both traditional bioinformatic analysis of clinical, genomic and other data sources in addition to applying the latest data-science and machine-learning methods to the problem.

You will have access to large longitudinal patient health records, whole genome sequences and modern analytics infrastructure, including your choice of open-source technologies to help us realize the promise of precision medicine. The ideal candidate will have a background in Genomics, Molecular Biology or similar combined with applied experience with Data Science and Machine-Learning.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop disease risk profiles using a combination of genomic and clinical/other healthcare data.
  • Apply modelling to improve detection, outcomes and patient experience at scale.
  • Research, develop and apply new innovative methods and technologies from other domains to health-care data.
  • Be a thought-leader and expounder of data science methods for bioinformatics and genomics, and support innovation within a collaborative environment.
  • Design and execute analyses from data gathering, analysis through to delivery and presentation of results.
  • Communicate insights to a variety of audiences from clinicians to geneticists to machine-learning experts to business partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience applying statistical methods to observational clinical, healthcare, or similar data.
  • Technical proficiency in standard bioinformatics pipelines including NGS/RNAseq data analysis, Genome Wide Association Studies, GATK, etc.
  • Experience of managing genomics data e.g. VCF, BAM etc.
  • Experience in application of machine learning / artificial intelligence approaches.
  • Experience with Python, R & UNIX.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in mining and analyzing medical and/or population genetics data, including public-domain life sciences repositories.
