Data Scientist (2100242) – Research Triangle Park, NC Where the Chemistry Happens We are currently seeking an Agriculture Products North America Data Scientist to join our Data Strategy & Analytics team. This team is part of the Market Management group in the North American Agricultural Division of BASF (APN) in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The leadership for this position is based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. This position has been established to evangelize and champion the extraction of business value from data across North America. Understanding how data-driven insights can positively impact business results is key to implementing an effective data science strategy, including the further expansion of data science for marketing. This role of Data Scientist within this group is charged with the creation, implementation, and execution of the APN data science strategy to drive business insights from disparate data sources. In this role, you will model complex business problems and provide insights through data analysis. In addition, you will be responsible for evangelizing the capabilities of the APN Insight Platform, driving its use within the AP North America organization. You will be expected to participate in a community-of-practice to maximize the effectiveness of the insights team, through knowledge sharing and thoughtful curation of algorithms and methods. To identify opportunities for data-driven insights, you will serve as an evangelist for marketing data science, will interact frequently with leaders in the organization across the North America region. Additionally, you will be responsible for coordinating and initiating your own activities as it relates to maximizing the value of insights delivered and derived from data. As a critical member of the Data Strategy & Analytics team, you will be responsible for working closely with your peers in the areas of data management, stewardship, and business architecture. You will be in the forefront of understanding the unique business data requirements to drive innovative insights and growth; this role will need to provide support to your peers and drive the decision making and priorities with your peers throughout the sales and marketing organization. This role will also be responsible for coordinating and negotiating with external partners and identifying/recommending new solutions and packages to aid in data science delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your experience in handling exceptions and defining metrics and scorecards to demonstrate benefits of a successful data governance program. You will also get to share your knowledge of IT and business management Information systems from a data perspective. Any experience you have in working in cloud-first environments, particularly AWS, exposure to and experience with visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI), and/or understanding and prior experience with the agriculture industry will all be valued assets. Certifications or publications relevant to data science, technical expertise, or marketing insights will also be viewed as a plus.

Formula for Success
Relying on your demonstrated, hands-on experience with R, Python, or similar data science tools, you will use advanced analytics methods to extract value from business data.
Demonstrating your experience using statistic/modeling tools in a non-academic environment with a focus on business growth, you will perform large-scale experimentation and build data-driven models to answer business questions.
Your strong technical leadership skills will enable you to indirectly manage, mentor, and develop citizen analysts, ensuring the right interpretation of data.
Partnering with cross-functional teams, you will influence product teams and business stakeholders through presentation of data-based recommendations.
Leveraging your BS in marketing with a strong focus on statistics or in quantitative/computational science with a strong focus on marketing, you will conduct research on cutting-edge tools and techniques in machine learning/deep learning/artificial intelligence in a fast-paced environment. MS is preferred.
Your experience in change management, scoping, requirements and solutions execution will be essential as you recommend and drive the continuous improvement and growth of the APN Insight Platform.
Your strong communication skills will serve you well as you evangelize the value of marketing data science, and drive demand with business leaders.
Utilizing your significant experience with enterprise-wide data initiatives and working with complex data and system infrastructure, you will be an integral member of the Data Analytics Team to champion the 'spirit' of a data driven culture.
Successfully engaging within the organization, you will develop and nurture a Data Science community of practice for analysts and data scientists.
