Ipsos MORI is the UKOM approved supplier for online audience measurement from January 2021. We have created a new team with the objective of launching and embedding a new industry digital measurement solution for the UK media industry.

The new approved service ( Ipsos iris ) is future ready and will allow media owners, online platforms, agencies and marketers to get a more granular understanding of online audience behaviour across a broad range of audience segments. Data will be delivered to market faster on a daily and monthly basis. This industry approved robust method will give our clients the confidence to make smarter decisions for your business and your clients.

We are currently recruiting for a Principal Data Scientist to work with the UKs largest media owners.

The role…

As the Principal Data Scientist, your role is to contribute to and take technical ownership of our current and future projects in your area, providing guidance to more junior members and working with your line manager to help build a well-connected, engaged team. This must be stressed: this is a hands-on, highly technical role and you will be developing alongside other members of your squad daily.

This is also an interesting and varied role which will include:

Taking technical leadership across all data science aspects of our new online measurement solution and responsibility for all data science deliverables

Working closely with relevant product managers on managing expectations, communications, understanding requirements, building/delegating developments, monitoring backlogs and support deciding priorities on a weekly basis

Working with other team leads and your manager towards a robust, no single-point-of-failure community, improving robustness of the team as a whole

Building up further knowledge and experience in audience measurement space

Working closely with other teams in our area (other ds teams, deng and dops teams)

Supporting internal clients and helping them better understand what we do

Support the liaison with external clients for data science activities in your area

Working in Agile framework

Help with creating an effective upskilling plan for juniors

From a more technical point of view, you would:
Perform and enable effective design of solutions to problems old and new

Perform and enable effective deployment of solutions and models into production

Contribute or lead on RFPs, RFIs

Be working in cloud environment, with containerised pipelines (Docker, Kubernetes)

Developing using Git and CI/CD processes

Keeping abreast of new industry developments – not just those coming from the UK

What do I need to bring with me…

To be successful in this role you will need the following skills and experience:

Deep expertise and experience in a data focused role, as a technical lead for building an delivering data solutions in market research / audience measurement

Good understanding of online audience and campaign measurement tools and techniques

Knowledge and solid understanding of media and advertising landscape and the role of audience measurement in it

Skilled in python/ r/ git/ GCP

Extensive working knowledge of ML and statistics

Proficient with cloud platforms, particularly GCP - Be working in cloud environment, with containerised pipelines (Docker, Kubernetes)

Developing using Git and CI/CD processes

Are not a stranger to developing code in groups

Degree in maths, statistics, computer science, physics or equivalent experience will help immensely

Effective design solutioning skills

Deployment skills - deployment of solutions and models into production

Ability to contribute or lead on RFPs, RFIs

Keeping abreast of new industry developments – not just those coming from the UK

Experience as a key point of contact with clients on strategic matter
