Job Overview and Responsibilities

The Data Analyst is responsible for identifying, collecting and analyzing data based on specific business use cases. S/he will communicate the data and/or findings to the stakeholder(s) in the most appropriate format to generate value from both the data and the analysis outputs.

The Data Analyst’s role is to bridge the gap between the business need and the organization’s data, having knowledge of both sides and potentially a specialisation in specific domain(s) of either side.

Requests requiring more advanced processing techniques (i.e. Statistics, AI/ML) would likely be (co-)handled by the Data Scientist, to whom the Data Analyst could still provide support.

Key Outputs

Data collection - Investigates the best possible way to collect and/or integrate the required data by examining source data stores and systems

Analysis & reports - Conduct analysis of the data and create the output in the required format.

Quality assessment - Assess the level of quality of the data

Requirements - Extracts, challenges and refines end-user requirements for analysis, reporting, quality, and performance

Documentation - Document the approach through which the analysis was conducted and important limitations/considerations. In case of a preliminary analysis that leads to a structural solution, this can serve as a first draft for the design of this solution.
